Update2: The promotion for Ashampoo Burning Studio 2010 is back (it works now) but from ComputerBild.de instead of ComputerBild.ru!
Update: The promotion for Ashampoo Burning Studio 2010 seems to have ended. If you still need a burning software, take a look at Ashampoo Burning Studio 2009 Advanced. The only difference between ABS10 and ABS09A is ABS10 supports Lightscribe while ABS09A does not.
One of the most popular freebies posted on dotTech is Ashampoo Burning Studio 2009. Recently I posted about how Ashampoo Burning Studio 2009 was available as an “Advanced” version which added more features and increased performance over the non-advanced version. Now here is your chance to grab the another free upgrade to the next software in line: Ashampoo Burning Studio 2010.
Unfortunately, besides the change of color scheme, there is only one “new” feature in Ashampoo Burning Studio 2010 which is not in Ashampoo Burning Studio 2009 Advanced:
- Supports Lightscribe.
For those that don’t know, “Lightscribe” is the ability of your CD/DVD/Blu Ray/HD-DVD burner to literally “draw” labels onto your CD/DVD/Blue Ray/HD-DVD (although I believe Ashampoo Burning Studio 2010 does not support HD-DVDs).
The thing about Lightscribe is Ashampoo Burning Studio 2010 itself will not give you the “Lightscribe” feature; Lightscribe is a hardware dependent feature. Your disk drive has to have it physically built in and the disk you are using has to be designed to work with Lightscribe. Ashampoo Burning Studio 2010 only removes the software limitations of Lightscribe. So for many upgrading from Ashampoo Burning Studio 2009 Advanced to Ashampoo Burning Studio 2010 is pointless because not everyone has a Lightscribe drive; however if you want, and can use, this Lightscribe feature, feel free to keep reading to learn how to grab Ashampoo Burning Studio 2010 for free.
As a quick recap, in addition to Lightscribe mentioned above, here are the full features of Ashampoo Burning Studio 2010:

NOTE: As Mario and Amnesia pointed out in the comments of the post on Ashampoo Burning Studio 2009 Advanced, the only differences between Ashampoo Burning Studio v9 (the paid version from Ashampoo’s website) and Ashampoo Burning Studio 2009/2009 Advanced/2010 is v9 can author DVDs and create slideshows while 2009/2009 Advanced/2010 cannot.
To get Ashampoo Burning Studio 2010, follow these steps:
If you already have Ashampoo Burning Studio 2009 or Ashampoo Burning Studio 2009 Advanced installed, first be sure to uninstall them (preferably using RevoUninstaller) because ASB09 and ASB09A install into different folders than ABS10 and can co-exist side by side. In other words, installing ASB10 will not remove ASB09 or ABS09A automatically so you must do it manually.
Ashampoo Burning Studio 2010 officially works on Windows 2000/XP/Vista. Unofficially, I have it running in Windows 7 just fine.
- Visit the promotion page and download it.
- Install the software.
- During installation you should see this screen:
Make sure to leave “Get fullversion key…” checked. You may also want to consider unchecking “Create ‘The-Page.com’ desktop icon”.
- After installation the registration page should open in your browser. If it does not, visit it by clicking here.
- Enter your e-mail address and click “Send”:
Take note when you register, you are automatically signed up for Ashampoo’s regular e-mail newsletters. If you don’t want the newsletters, you can manually unsubscribe from these newsletters after you registered by logging in via MyAshampoo, going to “Subscribe service letters”, and unchecking the ones you don’t want.
- After you have registered, go to the inbox of the e-mail you entered and look for an e-mail from “Ashampoo <MrReg@ashampoo.com>” with the subject of “Your registration – Ashampoo® Burning Studio 2010 (F_asv_ru) (English)”. Open the e-mail and find the registration code inside:
- If you have Ashampoo Burning Studio 2010 still open, go back to it and select “Enter Key” at the “Ashampoo Burning Studio 2010 Trial Information” window that should be open (if you do not have ABS10 open, open it and go to “Internet” -> “Buy/Register…” and the “Ashampoo Burning Studio 2010 Trial Information” should open):
Enter in your registration key at the next window, hit “Register”. You may have to manually type it in instead of pasting (it wouldn’t let me paste for some reason).
- Enjoy your fully registered, never ending copy of ABS10 installed! Excellent free Nero alternative.

Lades and gentlemen, the promotion for Ashampoo Burning Studio 2010 is back! This time from ComputerBild.de instead of ComputerBild.ru.
anyone know where I can get a copy of Nero 9 to try?
ABS 2010 = 9.10.5956 same with advanced version if you have abs 9 and have updated to the latest version i.e. 9.12 don’t bother with either of these its called going backwards :-)) P.S. all versions from 9.10 support lightscribe …. if your hardware does :-))))))
Hi friends!
You can get the free version of Burning Studio 2010 “ashampoo_burning_studio_2010_9.12_6265.exe” for free from Chip.de. If you can trust the filename, it is version 9.12…
http://www.chip.de/downloads/Ashampoo-Burning-Studio-2010-Vollversion_28989417.html
there are also some other free versions from Ashampoo
Enter: “Vollversion: Ashampoo” in the “Suche” (=search) field
@Sibill: Sibill,
That v9.12 is not really different than the v9.10 you get from ComputerBild.de – it still does not include the features of the commercial Ashampoo Burning Studio such as dvd authoring and slideshow creation.

Hi nganchaihou:
Something went wrong..i guess.
Anyway,there is no catch.You get al the free versions with keys. I advise you to make an account,for there you can always retrieve your keys.The software can always be updated..!!!
Just be prepared for a lot of promotional email, however it is sometimes very interesting: i.e. i bought Photo Commander 7 for just 7,77 euro’s.
It is very user-friendly software,i can recommend it.
Btw,i am not assiociated with this firm in anyway,in case somebody is wondering.
Have fun.
@Ashraf:
Ashraf: For-Free-On-Internet.com are asking readers for opinions on the best disk imaging software. I was going to write a post, pointing them to your EXCELLENT review. I was further going to point them to this article and you giving credit to them as your source, to demonstrate that you have shown at least a glimmer of good will towards them. But then I discovered that you deleted their name from this post! [even after your reply said you WOULD credit them]
C’mon, all of you: you are behaving like little boys. It’s time to grow up!
@Alfan (35):
Hi Alfan,
I just registered with Ashampoo and the email I got from them is in German language. The email did not have the key and provide a link that will take you to its product registration page. And what’s more, the reference in the email is for German version of the Ashampoo Burning Studio 2010! Please help!
I wish the installation of this Ashampoo Burning Studio 2010 is as easy as the article made it to be…

“Enter in your registration key at the next window, hit “Register”. You may have to manually type it in instead of pasting (it wouldn’t let me paste for some reason)” …
That’s funny ‘coz I was able to copy/paste my reg code
Recently started to save some of the video files to cd/dvd’s. The ammount of codex types, types of files, cd formats, file formats, is mind boggleing. Is there a written documentation on different extensions for videos, and their strengths and weakness. Would like to know what and sizes you can burn on cd/dvd/blu ray cd’s that dvd players can read. This ashamopp burning studio does not handle the .avi files? Seems there are endless questions. When you have video_ts folder it is full of files with .bup, .ifo, .vob files. Where is the well written white papers/manuals for all this. Thanks
Good to have a burning tool that you can really rely on – Ashampoo can deliver what it promised !! Thank you and Happy Lunar New Year !!

Everything works perfect, thank you.
Hey Ashraf, what’s the difference between this and Burning Studio 9?
I don’t get it… but is it the 0.01 difference?
9 is newer than 2010 right? ‘Cause Burning Studio 9 is 9.21 and the screenshot is 9.20…

Hi Ashraf, I have just found your site looks good and the comments from general users are helpful. By the way where are you located in this world. Just curious :-)
hey Ashraf, just wanted to say thanks for all the effort you put into your helpful studies. I have been rebuilding computers for people since i have been laid off and you have helped me a lot with your reviews at cnet and here for setting up people with freeware after new os installs. I spend countless hours staring at my monitor also. one partition has about 50 programs install exes & have gotten much better since following your reviews. Thanks again You rock!
