Google officially launches ‘Keep’, a note-taking app on the web and Android

Two days ago a mysterious unannounced Google service called Keep went live for a short period of time before being disappearing again. Many of us took it as a sign that an official reveal was just around the corner and it turns out we were right — Google has officially launched Google Keep for the web and Android.
Here’s how Google describes Keep in their announcement on the official Google Blog:
With Keep you can quickly jot ideas down when you think of them and even include checklists and photos to keep track of what’s important to you. Your notes are safely stored in Google Drive and synced to all your devices so you can always have them at hand.
Keep also has a transcription feature, which enables you to just say what’s on your mind and the app will jot it down for you. Notes can be organized by color for easy recognizability, and then archived or deleted when you no longer need them. Another cool feature that Android users (4.2+) have access to is the lock screen widget, which you can use to quickly take things down without having to unlock your phone.
Android users can download Google Keep from the Play Store and it’s compatible with devices running Android 4.0 or higher. The service has also been integrated into Google Drive for web access but as of posting time, there doesn’t appear to be any shortcuts to access Keep when simply logging into Google Drive. Instead, you can find it at drive.google.com/keep.
As is mandatory for all new service launches, Google has prepared a nice little launch video for Google Keep which you can find below:
Will you be using Google Keep to take care of all your note-taking needs? Let us know in the comments!
