So you think Samsung’s 4.99-inch Galaxy S4 and 5.5-inch Galaxy Note II are big, eh? Then you will be happy to know they are just children when compared to Samsung’s latest Galaxy Mega devices.
Destined for Europe and Russia starting this May, Samsung has just announced two Galaxy Mega devices: Galaxy Mega 5.8 and Galaxy Mega 6.3. As the names may indicate, Galaxy Mega 5.8 has a 5.8-inch screen while Galaxy Mega 6.3 has a 6.3-inch screen.
- Mega 6.3 has TFT screen with 1280×720 resolution, 1.7GHz dual-core processor, 8MP/1.9MP cameras, LTE/HSPA+, 1.5GB RAM, 8GB/16GB internal with expandable microSD, and 3,200 mAh battery
- Mega 5.8 has TFT screen with 960×540 resolution, 1.4GHz dual-core processor, 8MP/1.9MP cameras, HSPA+, 1.5GB RAM, 8GB/16GB internal with expandable microSD, and 2,600 mAh battery
Both will run on Android 4.2 Jelly Bean and have various (but not all) software apps and capabilities found in Note II and Galaxy S4, such as split screen, S Travel, S Translator, and more.
It isn’t entirely clear how these two devices will be priced but it is clear Samsung is targeting markets that prefer one device that can serve as a smartphone and tablet instead of one smartphone and one tablet . Only time will tell if their bet will pay off but at least they aren’t sitting still, unlike another tech giant we know of.
