Lenovo introduces high-end Android phone K900, but it’s available in China only for now

Lenovo announced a little while ago that they were planning on entering the high-end smartphone market. With the recent release of the K900 in China, we can now see that they were serious about it. The device itself is pretty decent too, and it should be if Lenovo is aiming for the high-end side of the market.
The K900 is a Jelly Bean device packing the latest Atom processor from Intel. It also boasts a 5.5-inch HD display and a 13MP camera. HTC One lovers will be surprised to see a stainless steel alloy casing meshed with polycarbonate unibody accents. Of course, the K900 is supposedly the very first smartphone to use Intel’s aforementioned 2GHz dual-core Atom Z2580 processor. All of that is combined with 2GB of installed RAM, and 16 or 32GB internal storage options (solid state drives).
You’re probably wondering why a dual-core packing handset is big news in this market, right? After all, quad-cores are pretty popular now and Samsung even has an Octa (eight) core processor on the market.
The K900 can take advantage of a unique performance boost thanks to Hyper-Threading technology. There’s also an integrated Graphics Media Accelerator powered by a PowerVR SGX 544MP2 GPU. In other words, multi-tasking and performance certainly won’t be an issue on the handset.
Other features of the handset include:
Unfortunately, the Lenovo K900 is only available in China at the moment. The suggested retail price of the handset is ¥3,299 (about US$540). The device will launch internationally much later, but there’s no word on a US release date. I guess we’ll just have to wait and see.
It’s certainly an attractive device, and if the body really is made of a stainless steel alloy then I can’t wait to see it up close and personal. Let’s hope it’s just as sexy as the HTC One. What do you think?
