Vavvud is a mobile wind meter for your smartphone, and it contains no electronic parts what-so-ever

It is always a good thing when a Kickstarter project becomes an actual product at your nearest retailer; the latest project to become reality is one of the best to come out of Kickstarter, and could turn out to be a huge hit. What we have here is the Vavvud, a wind meter that connects directly to your smartphone via the 3.5mm jack.

The cool thing about the Vavvud compared to other mobile wind meters, is that it contains no electronic parts, just a slab of plastic and a few magnets on the inside. The plastic design and lack of electronics of the Vavvud makes for a product that is durable and long lasting, in addition, it could also serve as a cereal spoon or maybe something to stick your tongue in if you’re crazy like that.

The Vavvud works in conjunction with an app and your device’s magnetic sensor that keeps track of rotation and speed. It’s a clever idea, and at a $50 asking price, this device could become a fire hit in the months, or years to come among surfers and hitchhikers.

Furthermore, you don’t have to plug the Vavvud in your device, just simply hold it nearby your phone and watch the magic at hand.

Unfortauntely Vavvud won’t work with all smartphones. Currently, it supports iPhone 4, 4s, 5, iPad 2, 3, 4 generation plus mini, and Samsung Galaxy S2, S3, S4. However, if you own a supported device and you need something like this, Vavvud looks like it isn’t a bad buy at all.

We would love to see more interesting Kickstarter projects like the Vavvud make it to retail channels. However, be sure to think twice before giving away your money to some stranger, because the project might fail and you may never reclaim a single dime.
