The best use for the CDs that come with your new computer [Image]

I know this doesn’t apply for everyone (especially those with older computers and/or slower internet connections who may not be able to download relevant drivers from the internet) but, for me, this pretty much describes how useless the CDs that come with new computers are — especially the ridiculous number of CDs Dell sends.

[@citizenearth] Okay, ,you’re right if you gotta be serious.

I have put 34 5.25 inch disks back and forth into a Novell Server one Saturday morning back in the day. By myself, and I didn’t know whether I was doing it right. That’s a nervous time. It worked.

A CD would have been a blessing.

One of my neighbors uses them as a critter deterrent in her garden. She puts them on short stakes a foot or so apart around the perimeter, and says they do a good job keeping the rabbits out. Supposedly, they see movement in the reflective surface of the disc and it scares them away. I think I’ll give it a try next year to see what my mileage is.
