Using zip ties to hold up a server is asking for trouble [Image]

To be fair, some zip ties are designed to hold a lot of weight. Still, I don’t know about anyone else but I personally would have butterflies in my stomach is my server was held up with just one zip tie. At least throw a couple more on there for good measure, if you don’t want to use something else.

The tensile strength of a zip-tie is high. a small one is 50#, while the “heavy duty” (such as that being used in the picture) is 120#. Mechanically, it’s got enough “ooomph” to do the job.

Yeah, that sort of makes me get a good grip on my chair, if you know what I mean. Having a server suspended like that would bother me even if the zip tie was rated for 500 pounds, though.
