Xiaomi, one of the leading Android smartphone maker in China, today announced that they have sold the first batch of 100,000 units of Mi3 smartphones in flat 86 seconds of its launch after the phones were released at 12 noon today for sale on its website. They also announced that the similar batch of 3,000 units of MiTV smart TV was wiped out in under two minutes.

The two devices were announced last month. The Mi3 features a 5-inch full HD display and comes with the option of 1.8 GHz NVIDIA Tegra 4 processor or a 2.3 GHz quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor. The phone comes with a 13MP rear camera, a 2MP front camera, 2GB of RAM, 16/64GB internal memory and a 3050mAh battery. The MiTV features a 47-inch 3D HD LCD and will run on Android with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 600 chipset.

Xiaomi is known for pricing its products reasonably well from its competitors. The Mi3 retails for CNY 1999 ($327) for the 16GB version and CNY 2499 ($408) for the 64GB version. The MiTv retails for CNY 2999 ($490) which is very well priced and the sales justify that.

The Chinese giant is well versed with these numbers as it sold 100,000 units of its lowest priced phone, the Hongmi, in 90 seconds flat earlier this year. However, a report notes that the ones snapping up these phones so quickly may well be the snappers who want to make profit off these handsets due to such a high demand.

Xiaomi also aims to sell 20 million smartphones this year, 5 million more than its initial target of 15 million. It sold 7.19 million smartphones last year and they have already sold 7.03 million units in the first six months of this year.
