Gartner, a firm that specializes in market research, predicts that in only a few years, businesses that adopt the use of Google Glass could be saving themselves up to a billion a year. With the range of things Google Glass is capable of doing, the Gartner market research team believes Glass will help businesses streamline, essentially, and become much more efficient.

“The greatest savings in field service will come from diagnosing and fixing problems more quickly and without needing to bring additional experts to remote sites,” said Angela McIntyre, who is the research director at Gartner.

The areas in which Google Glass can help are quite extensive. You have immediate access to the Internet, the ability to make and receive phone calls as well as conduct and participate in conferences. Google Glass also has the ability to augmented reality, or AR, and this has a wide range of possibilities, especially when it comes to construction or renovations.  Imagine being able to come up with a design, input it into Google Glass, look around the environment that you want changed, and see how it will look in real time.

Of course writing about it is one thing, it’ll be interesting to see how things unfold in the next few years, and to compare businesses who do adopt Google Glass or similar technology and those that don’t.
