You expect these silly things from the average user who lacks the technical know how of computer devices, but a vice president at a tech firm? Something is very wrong here. It wouldn’t be too surprising if this person attempts to power on a brick.

    But agreed as to the latter point–if you’re provided with the tools in your job, learn how to use ‘em. One thing this shows, though, is that one should never overestimate (as typically is done) the user community’s facility or comfort level with technology.

    [@Mike S.] But it is still the VP of HR at a tech firm. I personally would still expect some level of competence. Heck, I’d expect anyone at the executive level at any firm — tech or not — to be able to understand how a laptop dock works.

    Ah, but it was the VP of HR, a very different role from a tech. position.
