Want a new Kindle Fire and can’t afford it? You’re not alone and Amazon feels your pain. Now Amazon wants to put a Kindle Fire HDX in your hands even if you don’t have all the money right this second. You can now pay for the tablet in installments.

According to Amazon you can now purchase the Kindle Fire HDX and then pay it off in three payments. No, don’t worry the payments aren’t monthly. The payments are made every three months giving you nine months to pay off your new tablet and making it easy to make your payments.

So, the important question: how does this work? You purchase either the Kindle Fire HDX seven-inch tablet, priced at$229, or the Kindle Fire HDX 8.9-inch tablet, priced at $379. You pay 25 percent plus all taxes and shipping when you place the order. Then every three months you make a payment. For the seven-inch tablet your payments will be around $57 per payment, the 8.9-inch around $95 per payment. The best part is there are no financing or interest fees.

What’s the catch? The offer sounds almost too good to be true. The truth, there aren’t many catches. The only thing is you must make sure to make your payment on time. If not you’re new tablet won’t work very well. Amazon will essentially brick your tablet if you don’t make your payments. According to the Amazon site, “Our remedies will include the right to deregister your Kindle Fire HDX device, which will block your ability to access Amazon content from your Kindle Fire HDX device.”
