Minecraft, the game that lets you scratch the itch that probably started with Lego, has sold over 35 million copies so far.

This news comes after Markus “Notch” Persson, the man who created Minecraft, confirmed over Twitter that 14 million copies of the game has been sold on PC and Mac.

A little under a month and a half ago, on December 11, 2013, Persson confirmed that that the computer versions of the game had sold 13 million copies. That means that since then Minecraft has sold roughly 20,000 copies a day.

On the Xbox 360 alone over 10 million copies have been sold, and the game has already reached the million copy mark on the PS3, for which it was only recently released. “It is crazy considering the game was released just before Christmas last year,” Daniel Kaplan, Mojang’s business developer, wrote in relation to the PS3 numbers. “We are super grateful for the support and we are very thankful for your dedication and I hope you will like the future updates we have planned for you.”

It seems that the ridiculously long alpha and beta versions of the game, something that has caused no shortage of jokes, was definitely worth it for Mojang, the game’s developers.
