    Greetings All.

Thanks for finding the update for this.

For those wondering whether to uninstall previous versions before installing this version….I left Photo Commander 6 installed and Photo Commander 7 installed separately (next to it) allowing for both versions.  A good way to test out and see what new features are now available and whether or not you want to keep the newer version.

I had no problems running either version on my Win Vista Home Prem 64 bit Laptop.  There was no lag or hangups/crashes at all.

Those worried about the site being in German…..as said….the above instructions are very EASY to follow and if you’re unsure of anything open up the site in two tabs and use a translator to translate one while filling out what’s needed.

The program itself has an ENGLISH setup….there’s a drop down menu that you can choose another language (unsure of which ones or how many options in the list…but English was automatically shown for me).  Once installed the program is in English with other language options you can choose from.

Straightforward with an easy install and setup.  It just takes a moment to read the above given instructions and follow them. It’s a nice program and easy to use.

I agree about the new comment box as well….very nice!

    Thanks again.

@Ron: There are a lot of different reg pages for the same codes from Ashampoo. It`s their marketing strategy.

@Ashraf: Thanks for crediting me. I just couldn`t find the installer from ComputerBild.de. Also, the new comment box is very cool.

Hi Gil, yes the Ashampoo site is in German – but if you read through Ashraf’s instructions above he gives screen caps of each screen you use in the process, with red comments, arrows and boxes explaining the setup.  The program is in English.

Went to download this program and was taken to a page where everything was in German. So I didn’t download the program since that may also be in a language other than English.
    Thanks anyway!

BLEH! Ashampoo Photo Commander 6 lagged on my laptop! It wasted 8-10 secounds of my life when I wanted to view a picture! The default Fax Viewer that came with Windows XP opens up pictures in a flash! So whats good with Photo Commander 7?

Ashraf, thanks for finding this update.  This program works well and offers some unique features not found in Picassa or XnView.  I still use Serif’s Photo Plus for heavy duty creating and editing tasks (and I’m looking at switching to GIMP) but Photo Commander has earned its place on my hard drive!

Thanks Ashraf! I had never tried this before, but I am looking to do pics up in a nice way at the moment so I have just downloaded it. I am really impressed! I’m going to have fun exploring all the options!

Ashraf – I just checked and the registration key for this (F_cbo_de) (Deutsch) is the same as the other one I have (F_ksw_pl) (English). Must have gotten that from from a Polish site, if I interpret Ashampoo’s codes correctly!

@Mr. Lee: The last version is 7.4, so this should answer most of your questions – http://www.ashampoo.com/frontend_images/1/products/0918/en/photo_commander_7_en_USD.pdf
I picked up this giveaway version in mid-March; it was nice to upgrade my old version 6, as I recall. To be honest, I don’t have the program installed on any of my machines at the moment. The graphic work I prefer to do these days requires much more complex software. Still, it’s a very decent program, imo, and typical of Ashampoo’s commitment to produce good software at competitive prices.

@Mr. Lee: Here are the changes in Ash PC7 taken right off Ashampoo’s website:

    What’s new in version 7
There are far too many improvements to list them all – we can only include the highlights here:

    3D hardware acceleration
softonic_4stars_en The program now automatically uses the 3D processor in your computer’s video card to achieve a performance boost. If you have a 3D video card this significantly speeds up photo viewing and transition effects for smoother resizing and zooming, with additional smoothing for less “jaggy” images at high magnifications.

    New, more efficient media database
The new automatic database that manages your media files is now both faster and more efficient, automatically updating when you’re uploading your media files on your PC. This means you can move files around without losing their tags (star ratings) and other data. The new database also makes scanning EXIF photo tags and MP3 audio tags much faster.

    Drag & Drop virtual albums
The new Drag & Drop virtual albums (Favorites) organize your media files in folders without actually moving them – the same files can be included in multiple folders without creating multiple copies of the files. You can manipulate the files in virtual albums just like any other group of files: Add tags and star ratings, perform batch cut and crop operations, create slide shows and web albums and so on.
    Create panorama images
This is a feature that many users have asked for. In version 7 you now have a tool for stitching together multiple photos to create a single large panorama image.

Slide shows with “Ken Burns” effect
The new quick slide show features the popular “Ken Burns” effect that zooms and pans on each image while it is being displayed. Just select the photos you want to include and press Ctrl+Space to start.

    Digital camera and scanner importer
The new digital camera and scanner importer makes it quick and easy to import images directly from your digital camera or image scanner.

    Improved Callout tool
A number of user suggestions have been implemented to improve the performance of the Callout (text bubble) tool, which now also includes the functions of the previous callout tool from Photo Commander 5.

    Media browser enhancements
The media browser comes with many improvements, including advanced search by text, file type, file rating and age with a cut-off date. You can now also change the date and time of multiple files in batch mode and browse images without leaving Quick Fix mode – this makes it easier to apply quick fixes to multiple images. You can resize the thumbnail preview images in the media browser on the fly with a slider control.

Find duplicate images with different names
A powerful new function for finding duplicates will also find duplicate images with different names and images that are similar but not identical. You can enter the level of similarity in percent.

    Hello Ashraf,
I have been using Ashampoo Photo Commander v.6.5 and it has become my first choice for numerous editing tasks. My question: do you have a change log for what improvements, additions, bug fixes, etc. have been made? I’m satisfied with the current rendition—the only thing that would prompt me to download version 7 would be, if they have added any additional frames. Any mention of that? Thanks for your efforts, they are appreciated. — Mr. Lee
