US senator says CIA hacked and intimidated Congress

senator [1]Senator Dianne Feinstein (D-CA), who is the chair of the Senate Intelligence Committee, has accused the CIA of hacking into Senate computers and looking for an internal agency interrogation report being compiled by the committee. Furthermore, she has accused the CIA of being in violation of the Constitution as well as anti-hacking laws.

“I have grave concerns that the CIA’s search may well have violated the separation of powers principles embodied in the United States Constitution,” she said. “It may have undermined the constitutional framework essential to effective Congressional oversight of intelligence activities or any other government function.”

It seems that CIA hasn’t been that cooperative over the past few years as the Intelligence Committee has tried to investigate the interrogation practices that were being carried out.

John Brennan, the head of the CIA, has denied these allegations. “We are not in any way, shape, or form trying to thwart this [Senate] report’s progression,” he said. “As far as the allegations of the CIA hacking into Senate computers, nothing could be further form the truth. We wouldn’t do that. That’s just beyond the scope of reason.”
