    Hey, Ashraf!
    There have been several Win X DVD giveaways from several sites, but when trying to download the giveaway, I always get the message “Firefox [ 3.6.3 ] can’t find the server at“. The same message pops up with today’s link of,

    I have tried the links in Opera and IE8 with no luck.

    Any suggestions?

    Thanks for your site, your work, and in advance for your help.

    Thanks Ashraf. Interestingly, after install I noticed the default DVD language to be Chinese (under settings) and DVD burner to be Modual1 (is that a typo or I don’t know the terms Modual1 Modual2?)

    I seem to get a better value from dotTech than Whatever OATD. There is a lot of crapware offered there now and management goes out of their way to ask vendors to cripple their goodware e.g. v9.5 for what should be 10, taking features out to create limitedware ;)

    Thanks Ashraf for your prompt answer.

    You know I didn’t notice that today’s freebie is the same version as the one given by GAOTD last year, so I thought that all the bugs you mentioned in your past review  were removed by the developer.

    As Jean Jean I have in my HD the installer of vers version (never used though…LOL!!)  but, according to your words, for some odd reasons this version (5.5.1)  is newer than vers. 5.5.8 (???): right??

    So if this version is the same as the one you reviewed last year, I can’t see any reason to prefer this tool to the open source DVD FLICK.

    Do you agree with me buddy??

    Thx Ashraf.
    I know I don’t post replies very often nor post much in the forums, just too busy at times.  But just wanted to say that I always appreciate your reviews and offers like these.

    Ashraf, I haven’t downloaded this yet but it looks like a winner.  I followed your link from GAOFTD, and have been reading your reviews there ever since I found that site about a month ago.  Just want to tell you how very much appreciated you are for your in-depth analysis and clear summaries of freebie software.  It’s incredibly helpful  for those of us who are always seeking an edge in our projects but don’t have the technical knowhow to really figure out the pros and cons of different software by ourselves.

    @Dr.H: Well I thought minor updates would be something like v5.5.1 -> v5.5.2 (i.e. v5 updates but not v5 -> v6 update) but apparently not. I have contacted the developer for more information about this issue.

    @jSwann0: You are welcome =).

    @Bence: You are welcome =).

    @Ken DP: I don’t know about the accuracy of this particular TopTen Review (I didn’t read it) but in general I find TopTen Reviews to not be very good/accurate. Just food for thought.

    @Murphy: You are welcome =).

    @Ron: While I am not saying TopTenReviews is “wrong” and Softpedia is “right” I find that – in general – Softpedia reviews tend to be a lot more accurate. Then, of course, there is always my review too =).

    @Jeanjean: Yes this is v5.5.1. I also have the installer for v5.5.8 from last year’s promotion. However, to be honest, v5.5.1 seems to be newer than v5.5.8 for some odd reason – v5.5.1 is larger in file size, and v5.5.2 is the latest version available from WinX DVD Author’s homepage. I think the v5.5.8 may have been a mistake.

    @giovanni: Read my review please.

    @Mr.Dave: You are welcome =).

    @Mike: Thanks for the support =D

    @Joji: Not forever, but the specific timing has not been set in stone as of yet. For now it is available for at least 1-2 months… from then we will see.

    @Nic: I agree – v5.5.1 -> v5.5.2 should be a “minor update” and hence available to update. I will contact developer about this – thanks for pointing this out.

    Hi Ashraf. Thanks for the freebie. I noticed from your description Free updates: Minor updates only”. I have just downloaded the current version 5.5.2 from their site, which seems like a minor update to me, and installed. Now when opening I get ‘This is a trial version: please buy the full version'; even after re-entering the serial supplied. Managed to revert to 5.5 ok. Thought people might like to know before trying to update.

    One thing I would like to highlight about Digiarty Software is how very willing they were to work with me when I asked them to fix their “awards” section in accordance with MikeR’s recent post. In other words, the “awards” and “reviews” listed at WinX DVD Author’s homepage are 100% legit and accurate now, and the person at Digiarty Software I have been in contact with has assured me the same will be done continuously with all their other products.

    So, yes the developer may have done some bad things for “awards” and “reviews” before (they did a lot of “award swapping” as MikeR calls it), you have to give them credit now for being willing to change.

    Just thought I should point that out.
