Anyone that does not answer all four of these questions will be disqualified.
- 10 licenses are reserved for dotTech donors, authors, and artists. If you fall in this 10 license reserve category, please specifically state so in your comment (i.e. say “I am a donor” if you are a donor, etc.), otherwise I may not know. Good luck to everyone!
Anyone that misses out can always purchase Linkman Pro (scroll down to the bottom of the page to find Linkman Pro) for $25 (USD).

Have you ever used a bookmarks/favorites manager or synced bookmarks/favorites across multiple browsers or computers? If yes, please name the software/service you have used.
x-marks and zotero
What will be the main task you will use Linkman Pro for (sync bookmarks across browsers, sync bookmarks across computers, backup bookmarks, etc.)?
I think this would be a richer feature set than x-marks, and I’d rather save zotero for my research work.
Is there anything Outer Technologies can improve in Linkman Pro (bug fixes, more features, etc.)? If yes, please specify
Take a look at Zotero. Collecting bookmarks as formal citations that can be used directly as footnotes/endnotes is an AWESOME feature!
Do you think $25 (for a single license) is a fair price for Linkman Pro? If no, please specify the price you think is fair.
Not really sure. I am looking at the feature set, and right now I don’t have a rich enough bookmark environment that I’d pay for it. But if I had better organizing tools (sort,…) I probably *would* use one more and that would likely make it worthwhile.
I imagine this is one of those things that I’ll discover over time.
I’ll take a shot. Have the lite version for years. Think I got it from giveaway.com Thanks for the chance.
Thank you and Outertech for this Giveaway. Sorry for my bad English.
1. Yes, I used Linkman (an old version) for many years for bookmarks across computers.
2. The main task will be sync bookmarks across computers.
3. Yes, I think it’s a fair price.
Best regards,
Frank
1. No I have never used a bookmarks/favorites manager or synced bookmarks/favorites across multiple browsers or computers.
2. I would use Linkman Pro to sync my bookmarks across browsers primarily but would also consider doing it across computer at a later date.
3.I have never used it but fixing bugs is always a good thing.
4. It would depend how you define a single license. If the single license is for one computer then I most likely would not purchase it for $25. On the other hand if a single license covered all my computers than I would consider if a very fair price and would consider purchasing it .
Bud
I anm using XMarks to sync my bookmaks and favorites, but I would like a desktop programs so I can work with them.
I would be using Linkman Pro to backup and sync between computers.
I hav eused the Lite version, but it had its limitations. I liked the program and without the Lite’s limitations it would be a great program.
$25.00 is not a bad price for this program, but FREE is always best.
I use Outer Technologies Cacheman Pro and love it.
Thenk you
Are there any free, open source alternatives? The only closed source program I like to use is Opera. Other than that, I always try to use open source software.
No
Sync bookmarks across browsers and across computers, describe and document bookmarks
Don’t know yet.
$25 is reasonable for good quality software.
Well, this is such an appealing program! I use four different computers (two for work and two for the home) and three different browsers on each (Opera, Firefox and Chrome) and this program would be so helpful.
My answers to the questions:
Have you ever used a bookmarks/favorites manager or synced bookmarks/favorites across multiple browsers or computers? If yes, please name the software/service you have used.
X-marks, Transmute
What will be the main task you will use Linkman Pro for (sync bookmarks across browsers, sync bookmarks across computers, backup bookmarks, etc.)?
All of the above, basically.
Is there anything Outer Technologies can improve in Linkman Pro (bug fixes, more features, etc.)? If yes, please specify.
As I haven’t used it yet, I really can’t say anything about bug fixes. If I am lucky enough to win, I will of course send in recommendations if I come across bugs/needed features to improve the program.
Do you think $25 (for a single license) is a fair price for Linkman Pro? If no, please specify the price you think is fair.
If it’s a single license that can be used by one person on all of her computers, then it does sound reasonable to me.
Thank you for the offer:
1. Have you ever used a bookmarks/favorites manager or synced bookmarks/favorites across multiple browsers or computers? If yes, please name the software/service you have used.
I have used the bookmarking service ‘Delicious’
2. What will be the main task you will use Linkman Pro for (sync bookmarks across browsers, sync bookmarks across computers, backup bookmarks, etc.)?
I will use it for syncing bookmarks across browsers, checking and eliminating/updating dead links, backup bookmarks, creating a database of bookmarks and as a reference library.
3. Is there anything Outer Technologies can improve in Linkman Pro (bug fixes, more features, etc.)? If yes, please specify.
Make it compatible with Safari (as I use that browser too!).
Ability to import bookmarks from Delicious, Google bookmarks (probably can already do this).
Could make the interface a bit more user friendly/attractive
4. Do you think $25 (for a single license) is a fair price for Linkman Pro?
If no, please specify the price you think is fair.
I think $20 is a more fair/ more attractive price for consumers

1. I have never used a bookmarks/favorites manager except for IE favorites.
2. I would use Linkman Pro to sync my bookmarks across browsers IE & Google
3.I have not used it.
4. I would think about $20.
While I am donor, I am also a complete and total mess when it comes to bookmark management. We’re talking pathetic here. I have not used a bookmark manager to date, largely because I couldn’t figure out the best option for sorting through critical bookmarks and all the crap I get entranced with via Stumble Upon. I am less interested in synching between computers than I am in synching across browsers, since I tend to bounce around between Firefox, Chrome, and here and there some Opera and Safari.
Re: bug fixes and improvements, I am always too happy to express my opinion about every thing, solicited or otherwise.
With regard to pricing, I am usually happier when software that is not critical, but that offers benefits that are a little more complicated than would be common in freeware falls in closer to $19.95 than $25, but that’s just because I’m poor and cheap.
In any event, I appreciate at least having the chance to be considered for a free license, and it is always a pleasure to feel a part of the dotTech community.
I like the idea of a professional bookmark manager. So to take advantage of this opportunity I will answer your questions:
Yes I have used a bookmarks manager: Transmute.
I want to see what’s different in this one than Transmute, because Transmute is not exactly what I need. I do use two different browsers and would really like to have all my bookmarks in one place, managed better than the current software, if possible.
I think $10 may be a better and more attractive price as this is just a bookmarks manager basically.
I have not tried Linkman before, so cannot suggest what they should do to improve themselves.
Hi,
I think the software sounds like a handy tool.
1. No, I have never used a bookmarks/favorites manager and I’d like to give it a go – I hate not having access to my usual bookmarks when, for emple, I use my partner’s PC.
2. My main purpose for using Linkman Pro to sync my bookmarks across browsers and between different PCs on the same subnet.
3.I havn’t used Linkman Pro so I’m not familiar with whether there are problems that need fixing.
4. $25 for a single license for this software sounds a bit too expensive to me, perhaps for a multiuse licence and/or $10 per license…
•Have you ever used a bookmarks/favorites manager or synced bookmarks/favorites across multiple browsers or computers? If yes, please name the software/service you have used.
Mostly I cut and paste the favorites/bookmark folder if I don’t use FEBE . Weavebrowser Sync is a FF extension I apparently downloaded but have never used it. I used to do something with g-mail that let me sync my Bookmarks but since I don’t remember how or what I clearly haven’t bothered in a while. I do back up and move back ups around. Sometimes use Toucan to sync stuff.
•What will be the main task you will use Linkman Pro for (sync bookmarks across browsers, sync bookmarks across computers, backup bookmarks, etc.)?
One stop everything I’ve forgotten. Likely I’ll use it to keep my bookmarks at home and at work synced. If I like the backup on it, I’ll do that too. Faintly recall downloading a FF extension to locate dead links but it’s long gone. That function would be nice as part of a package so regular link clean-up could happen.
•Is there anything Outer Technologies can improve in Linkman Pro (bug fixes, more features, etc.)? If yes, please specify.
Have no idea. Not ever used it. Looks like great stuff which is why I’d like a copy to try out. May have to give Linkman Lite a look.
•Do you think $25 (for a single license) is a fair price for Linkman Pro? If no, please specify the price you think is fair.
Probably. I don’t know what development, distribution and maintenance costs are or the developer’s source(s) of income. As for positioning it for max purchase, people have to need or want it to buy it. I’ve been limping along, making do with other stuff. Should I find I actually want/need it once I use it, then $25 is affordable.
Hi Ashraf,
I also think this software looks good and am going to try the lite version and maybe win a copy of the pro version. I am a donor.
1. I have used the built in synchronizers for bookmarks, but no professional version such as this.
2. I would use the product to clean up my bookmarks, eliminating duplicates and creating a solid master version to share across browsers and computers.
3. No opinion on improvements as I have not used the product yet.
4. $25 is high for one computer. Perhaps for a 3 pc version, or a least for your desktop and laptop. I personally like the WinPatrol pricing strategy, pay for it once and use it on all of Your computers, as long as it is not a business.
1. Have you ever used a bookmarks/favorites manager or synced bookmarks/favorites across multiple browsers or computers? If yes, please name the software/service you have used.
Yes. The most recent one I have used is Advanced URL Catalogue but it was only good for 30 days and I wasn’t inclined to purchase it because it didn’t warrent me buying it since other freeware seemed to accomplish what I was looking for.
2. What will be the main task you will use Linkman Pro for (sync bookmarks across browsers, sync bookmarks across computers, backup bookmarks, etc.)?
I will use it to organize the existing bookmarks (favorites) I have, hopefully update outdated or no longer existant links, eliminate duplicate links, and of course have a better way of categorize the ones I already have.
3. Is there anything Outer Technologies can improve in Linkman Pro (bug fixes, more features, etc.)? If yes, please specify.
I think one think Outer Technologies might want to consider is making it more compatible for Safari.
4. Do you think $25 (for a single license) is a fair price for Linkman Pro? If no, please specify the price you think is fair.
I think the price is fair considering what it does but I think the price should include future upgrades.
Thank you for the offer:
1. Have you ever used a bookmarks/favorites manager or synced bookmarks/favorites across multiple browsers or computers? If yes, please name the software/service you have used.
-Yes, i’m using Xmarks bookmarks sync.
2. What will be the main task you will use Linkman Pro for (sync bookmarks across browsers, sync bookmarks across computers, backup bookmarks, etc.)?
-I have a lot of computers, i would find all my bookmarks on them at the same time. So, i think the main tasks i will use Linkman Pro for are, syncing and makings backups.
3. Is there anything Outer Technologies can improve in Linkman Pro (bug fixes, more features, etc.)? If yes, please specify.
-I have never used it, so i don’t know :)
4. Do you think $25 (for a single license) is a fair price for Linkman Pro?
If no, please specify the price you think is fair.
-Hum, perhaps a bit unfair. Around 10 and 15$ would be better.
1.) No, I have not used one in the past, but I have been actively searching the past couple weeks for one that would have all the features I want without being a drain on my computer or my wallet.
2.) I stay faithful to one browser, so I would use Linkman Pro to synchronize bookmarks between different computers.
3.) Since I have not yet tried the program, I couldn’t fairly judge what could be improved.
4.) Yes, I think $25 is a fair price, but it is at the upper limit of what I would be willing to pay.
It would be nice to to find the free download link occasionally!
I also think this software looks good and am going to try the lite version and maybe win a copy of the pro version. I am a donor.
I can recieve License Key if i luky….!
Have you ever used a bookmarks/favorites manager or synced bookmarks/favorites across multiple browsers or computers?
I never knew such software existed. Shows you how web savvy I am…
What will be the main task you will use Linkman Pro for (sync bookmarks across browsers, sync bookmarks across computers, backup bookmarks, etc.)?
Syncing bookmarks across windows installs on mostly one computer (technically not Windows, except 1 copy of Windows 7 at work)
Is there anything Outer Technologies can improve in Linkman Pro (bug fixes, more features, etc.)?
Never used it. (See 1.)
Do you think $25 (for a single license) is a fair price for Linkman Pro? If no, please specify the price you think is fair.
I only use free software. As in a certain controversial drink. Last software I bought was a game for Windows 95. So I think it’s too much.
<joke>Being within the first 3 email subscribers, I’m sure you think I’m VERY important to dotTech. (I am still motivated BTW, but I don’t follow politics.) I have helped foster the dotTech community, and I am active in real life, so I hope I am at your sole discretion.</joke> (I hope that doesn’t disqualify me)

Edit: Crammer check…
1. No I haven’t but is sounds usefull.
2. To sync backup and have comments with my bookmarks.
3. I don’t think so. But haven’t used it before. It sounds good.
4. Yes, about right.
Have you ever used a bookmarks/favorites manager or synced bookmarks/favorites across multiple browsers or computers?
I have used XMarks to sync bookmarks across Firefox installs on multiple computers. Though I find it suitable for this purpose, I have found myself dissatisfied with a few of its behaviours.
What will be the main task you will use Linkman Pro for (sync bookmarks across browsers, sync bookmarks across computers, backup bookmarks, etc.)?
I think I will use it for backing-up bookmarks, since I did once forget my Xmarks login details and I don’t want to risk losing my bookmarks again. But I may use it for the other listed purposes too if I find it satisfactory compared to Xmarks and other similar software.
Is there anything Outer Technologies can improve in Linkman Pro (bug fixes, more features, etc.)?
I have not been aware of this software previously and so cannot comment.
Do you think $25 (for a single license) is a fair price for Linkman Pro? If no, please specify the price you think is fair.
Based on quick research I just did on alternatives, it seems the average price, so I can understand it. However, without being familiar with the software, I can’t really judge it is “fair”. Personally, I wouldn’t mind a $5 reduction, since I don’t like paying much for single-purpose software, but that’s just me.
Final, non-promo-related comments:
I do love your website, Ashraf, and keep up the good work!
1: I’ve used Link Commander and PowerMarks and like Link Commander best. It has some limitations and I’m looking for something new.
2: I will use it to sync across different browsers (IE, FireFox, Safari, Bing, etc.) and to sync between my laptop and my computer.
3: I didn’t see where it can be used on a flash drive or external drive – I hope this will be a capability.
4: While $25 doesn’t seem over priced, it would be more competitive at $19 per seat.
Regards,
Bob
Yes an earleir version of Linkman
To sync my 1500+ bookmarks across browsers/computers
Dont know yet havent tried latest version (waiting to see if i win a key :-) )
I think $15 – $20 for what it does
Whether I win or not well done to Ashraf for once again bringing us dottechies something useful and a big thank you to Outer Technologies as well
