[Android] LokLok is a lock screen replacement app for drawings and notes

LokLok for AndroidThere are many types of Android lock screen replacement apps that you can download for free. Some of them would even allow you to add shortcuts to your favorite apps. There are also those that you can configure according to your liking. As for LokLok, it’s a lock screen replacement app that lets you share the notes and drawings on your lock screen.

What Is It and What Does It Do

Main Functionality

LokLok is a free lock screen replacement app for Android. However, it’s not like your usual lock screen replacement app. It also functions like an instant messaging app since it lets you share the notes and drawings on your lock screen. In other words, it converts your lock screen into a shared white board. Therefore, everything that you write or draw on your shared white board will be instantly shared to your group of friends and/or contacts.

Pros

  • Easy to use
  • Neat and responsive UI
  • Turns your lock screen into a shared white board so you can leave your notes, drawing and photos
  • You can share your notes and drawings to your friends and significant others
  • You can capture photos or add your existing images to your shared white board
  • Supports simple gesture controls – ex. use one finger to draw, use two fingers to erase, swipe up to unlock, double-tap to draw
  • You can instantly share your notes and drawings to others via Facebook, Twitter, Email, etc.
  • You can write notes and draw using the app’s basic drawing tools – ex. pen type, pen tip size and pen color

Cons

  • Since the app is still in beta, you can’t really expect it to be one-hundred percent free from flaws. It also needs to add more drawings tools – ex. clear page, zoom in/zoom out, redo tool, insert text, fill, etc.

Discussion

LokLok for Android App FreeThe way how LokLok works is quite simple. After installing it on your device, you launch it and then you will be immediately taken to its guided tutorial. As I’ve already mentioned above, this app is not like your usual lock screen replacement app. It also acts as an instant messaging app that can turn your ordinary lock screen into a shared white board. Simply put, whatever you write or draw on your lock screen (shared white board) will be immediately shared to the friends that you’ve added to your LokLok groups. Just keep in mind that you’re only allowed to create up to three groups.

Speaking of which, you have the option to use the app as a guest user or registered user. If you’re a guest user, then the things that you can do with the app are limited. If you’re a registered user, you can create groups and invite your friends to your groups. If they join and install the app, they’ll be able to see the drawings and notes on your shared white board. Apart from this, you can also use LokLok to capture and share your existing photos.

Functionality wise, the app automatically replaces your current lock screen. If you’ve enabled password protection on your lock screen, then the app will simply appear on top of your existing lock screen. It will also display a simple 12-hour clock right below your drawings/notes.

If you want to add a new drawing or note, just double-tap on the app’s drawing area. You may use one finger to draw and two fingers to erase your existing notes. You can also select your preferred drawing tools by clicking the app’s palette icon. Once you’re done, simply click the check button that’s located on the bottom portion of the app’s drawing area.

All in all, I can say that the app works pretty well. It’s still on beta but it’s already stable and responsive enough for you to use on a regular basis. Just don’t expect it to be one-hundred free from glitches and errors. Aside from this, the app also needs to add more drawings tools – ex. zoom, fill, redo, insert text, clear page, etc.
