dotTech Exclusive: Free Glary Utilities Pro! (Promotion open for 24 hours only so hurry!) *Update: Promo extended for 6 more hours*

Update: This promotion has now ended.

As promised earlier this week, dotTech is teaming up with GlarySoft to bring everyone Glary Utilities Pro for free! For those that don’t know, Glary Utilities is a jack-of-all-trades software that can do all of the following (as per the developer):

Glary Utilities comes in two flavors: Glary Utilities Free and Glary Utilities Pro. The main differences between the two flavors as per the developer are that Glary Utilities Pro comes with:

  • Automatic care in background
  • Enhanced system fixing, optimizing and more
  • Free 24×7 Technical Support
  • Consent for commercial use Attention: This specific promotion entitles usage of Glary Utilities Pro for non-commercial use only.

So, as the title of this post says, dotTechies have the chance to get Glary Utilities Pro for free! This promotion will be open for 24 hours only – from 00:00 – 24:00 PST (Pacific Standard Time, or GMT -7) on May 12, 2010 – and everyone will receive 1 year of free updates. Note that you will only be able to grab a free license key within the 24 hour time frame, but you can use the key you get to install Glary Utilities Pro at a later date, if you wish.

Update: There was a communication problem between me and GlarySoft. We both agreed upon running the giveaway for 24 hours on May 12, 2010, but they live in China so they probably setup the giveaway for 24 hours Chinese time where as I ran the giveaway PST time (hence the giveaway “ended early”). GlarySoft and dotTech recognize this problem and apologize for it (see comment #86 for an official apology from GlarySoft). The giveaway is now open again and this giveaway has been extended by 6 hours and will now last until 06:00 PST May 13, 2010.

Anyone that has any problems or issues can e-mail GlarySoft at support [at] glarysoft.com before 0600 PST May 13, 2010 and they will be e-mailed a license. Also, any complaints can go to support [at] glarysoft.com.

To get Glary Utilities Pro for free, follow these simple steps:

Version being given away for free: v2.22.0.896

Free updates: Yes, for one year

Supported OS: Windows 2000/XP/Vista/Win7

Download size: 5.97 MB

  • Enter your e-mail address in the following text box and hit “Submit”:
  • Click “OK” at the confirmation pop-up box that appears after you hit “Submit”:

  • Check the inbox of the e-mail address you entered. There should be an e-mail from “Glarysoft (support@glarysoft.com)” with the subject of “Glarysoft 1-year License Giveaway?”. In the e-mail you will find your registration key:

Copy the registration key and/or keep it in a safe place – you will need it to register Glary Utilities Pro.

  • Download (alternative download link) and install Glary Utilities Pro.
  • After installation has finished, run Glary Utilities Pro and register is with the key you received via e-mail:

(You may enter whatever you want for “Your name”.)

  • Enjoy!

If you have trouble getting Glary Utilities Pro for free, post below and I will try to help.

NOTE: If you want to share this promotion information with your friends and family so they can also take advantage of this offer, you can provide them with a permalink to this post (alternative link), or use the “Help Us Spread The Word” buttons located right below this post.

OK, good info, but do you have a Registration Name/Code to use? Is each code individualized or is it something like this: http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x12eqxo_glary-utilities-pro-free-download-full-version-with-legal-serial-key-review_tech … this: http://lifehacker.com/5991897/grab-glary-utilities-pro-for-free-normally-40
    … or this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jV7Sviv3mO0

Name and user code on these are all the same, even though dates are from March 17th to September 2.

    License Name: EaseUs Users
    License Code: 3788-6167-9582-3423-62

Is it the same or different than this one?

I’m glad That there are new and older security program’s. Sjnce mine are just starting to expire, the first being a firewall, I have been using online armor pro. Plus I have one of those refurbished dell which has xp pro, the previous computer has Vista home. During and when I have ended nunidawg’s quest of 2010 security of What I think is the best setup of security for these Os’s are.

Disappointed that after I ran the Utilities my Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter failed to run properly – obviously the Glary deleted or altered the program’s files.  Fortunately, I always set a restore point before trying anything new and was able to get the full functionality of the program back – so I won’t be using Glary again!!  I find Advanced System Care the best.

To Gil, Ed and everybody who wants to change registry info and have installed GAOTD version of Glary Utilities on computer.
First: you don’t need to uninstall your GAOTD version. Follow this few steps (5) and your name will be on the status tab of GU and you will still have GAOTD reg info as a backup if you ever decide to switch back to GAOTD version.
    1) Open Registry Editor (start->Run -> type regedit and hit enter).
    2) Go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER->Software->GlarySoft->Glary Utilities.
    3) Rigt click on Glary Utilities and choose Export: name it e.g. “GAOTD GU registration.reg”  (Export range – > Selected branch) and save it in a save place.
    4) Now you can delete Glary Utilities key: right click on Glary Utilities and choose Delete or  just hit Delete button and confirm deletion. Close Registry Editor.
    5) Open Glary Utilities and enter your dotTech’s registry information and reconfigure your settings of the program.
That’s it. You can backup your  dotTech’s Glary Utilities reg info by the same procedure. If you ever need to enter any of this *.reg keys: double click *.reg key and confirm the changes (click Yes) when prompt.

Thanks Ashraf for Glary Utilities Pro. Have a nice vacation.

@Ed: The thing is when it comes to registration, often attempts to “unregister” a program will fail. This is because (most) registration information is stored in the registry and uninstalling programs won’t just make that registration information go poof. Although this may be annoying when trying to register the software with different registration information, this actually is a good preemptive measure that helps people who want to reinstall their software yet lost their registration keys.

Glary Utilities is not the only software that this happens with (most software behave this way) and Glary Utilities is fairly trustworthy. I wouldn’t worry about it too much and don’t let the registration problems reflect upon the actual performance of GU.

If you really, really want to try to unregister a software, your best bet is uninstalling it using RevoUninstaller (RevoUninstaller may find those leftover registry keys and delete them) or running CCleaner after uninstalling to delete orphan keys in the registry. Then reinstall the software and you may be able to reregister it.

  7. Ed

@Ashraf: I understand your point. As a reviewer and techie you should worry more than most when the software behaves differently than it should. If it does so in the registration process (I had the same experience) it is likely some of the rest of its features might behave just as poorly. A freebie may be a freebie, but a freebie that potentially damages your system becomes something else altogether. We still appreciate your efforts and your desire to take a vacation in peace :-) Cheers

  8. Ashraf
    Author/Mr. Boss

@Gil: I would say if you are still registered to GOTD, then just go with it. The performance of the program doesn’t really matter on who it is registered to – as long as it works fine, then who cares if it is registered to GOTD or to the registration key you got from dotTech.

  9. Fred Smith

    @Sophie:
As I was not being a  ‘ friendly and tolerant Dottechers ‘ I herewith apologize.
Thanks for posting an explanation here and clearing the matter up.
Also, many thanks for the freebie.
    Cheers,

  10. Gil

    Hi Ashraf,

Here’s one for you. I followed the instructions on this page only after uninstalling the GAOTD version. I went through the process of installing and all seemed fine. However, I never got to a registration page to enter information from what my email contained.

When I checked the status tab – it showed the product was licensed to Giveawayoftheday.

I ensured I installed the correct program because that file has today’s date on it.

Any suggestions or am I okay with this?
    Thanks

  11. Ashraf
    Author/Mr. Boss

@Everyone: I was asleep, just woke up, sorry for late reply.

I believe there was a miscommunication issue with the giveaway ending early. Me and GlarySoft agreed upon 24 hours for May 12th, but they live in China so they probably just made it 24 hours China time, while I ran the giveaway PST time. GlarySoft and I recognize this and apologize for the issue. Because of this the giveaway has been extended by 6 hours and will now last until 06:00 PST May 13 ,2010.

Anyone that has any problems or issues can e-mail GlarySoft at support [at] glarysoft.com before 0600: PST May 13, 2010 and they will be e-mailed a license. Also, any complaints can go to support [at] glarysoft.com.

  12. rezidue

@Ed: It’s the same installation file regardless. The license keys determine updates (length of time, etc.).
As far as rebooting goes that could be something to do with registry information,  shell extension integration or a host of other things. Sometimes it’s just a preventive measure and a reboot is not always actually necessary. The only part of the programme that could be really dangerous is the same for any application similar to this and that would be the registry cleaner (not had an issue with it myself yet).
Glary’s is a great outfit, there’s no cause for alarm (been using it since ’07 myself).

  13. Ed

I hope you will forgive my insistence; something is very strange indeed, and I can’t tell if it’s the software or the developer. I went to download and reinstall this gift from Ashraf. Again I had to use the mirror because the CNET main link is not working. The setup file was just the same. I re-installed the application, but this time, upon launching, requested that I reboot my computer. That did not happen on the first installation.
My question is: how many different versions are there of this particular release, and why do they act differently? Maybe Glary Utilities is not to be so easily trusted. Cheers.

  14. rezidue

@Ed: If you previously downloaded and had Glary’s from a GOTD offering all you have done is updated (which you can do any time there’s an update).
The GOTD license does not expire (unless you reformat or the registration from that previous giveaway somehow gets deleted or corrupted).
    Regards,  Damian

  15. Ed

Go figure… received my key but upon installing the downloaded program (from the mirror, because the main site did not work) after installation I was greeted by a statement that the license belonged to “giveawayoftheday” and not given a chance to enter my own registration number. Same version, so something is very strange. Cheers.

  16. David Roper

Everytime I try to download and submit email address for key, I get sent to CNET for normal Pro version….and no provision to enter email address to get a key.
    Sad.

Glarysoft Official Explanation on the DotTech Exclusive 24Hrs Give-away.

The BUG was fixed and please feel free to obtain your license on http://dottech.org/freebies/16241.
First of all, we apologize for the inconvenience caused by the BUG which wrongly sent out the ending notice to you.Now it was fixed.
Second,we will extend the giveaway to PST 06:00 AM May 13 ,2010.

    1. Many thanks to Mr.  Ashraf. He has been working earnestly to bring freebies to all the friendly Dottechers. It’s our honor to team up with Dottech and Dottechers.

    2. As a rational and a responsible developer, Glarysoft was fully aware that reputation is more valuable than profit. We never intend to break our promise to offer a 24Hrs giveaway to Dottechers. The bug was fixed as soon as some well-meaning dottechers wrote to us and required for fixing the problem and  explaining the truth to all dottechers to clear the atmosphere.  I think it’s our duty to explain it and make up for it.

3.Any dottecher who has the problem to obtain the free 1-year-license could write to support@glarysoft.com before PST 06:00 AM May 13 ,2010, we are glad to handle it and send out the license to the mailbox within 12 Hrs.

@Janet: If you already have the GOTD license you are better off keeping it as it does not seem to expire. I’ve been successfully updating the program for over a year and a half now. If you install this key instead of GOTD’s you will only be able to get updates for a year. You could always keep it for a backup though (in case of reformat) or for a different PC. I don’t think there’s any tech support for GOTD but you could always try!

    Regards, Damian.

  19. Janet

I did not uninstall my previous version,  so it updated but remained registered to Goatd (with expiration date ‘Never’).  Any suggestions about whether I should uninstall and reinstall with DotTech key? I wonder if it has Free 24×7 Technical Support if still registered to Goatd…?

  20. Sputnik

    Thank you Ashraf !
This is a very good software ! :-)
    QUESTION
Does somebody knows if we may install this software on more than one computer ?
I have been searching on the Glarysoft’s website and I didn’t found anything about it.
Also, when we install the program, we dont see any EULA which is habitually giving all the information about this question.
    Thank you.

  21. Josh

Download, email, registration … everything was quick and smooth. It’s a bit extreme to pass a life sentence for one glitch. The digital world is a favorite playground for Murphy’s Law. Many times have I set out to perform a simple task that should not take more than a few minutes, only to find myself searching the Net for answers two hours later :-)

  22. Emrys

Well, you’ve gone and done it again. Thanks for taking such good care of us. It stuns me at how many views you have on your posts. Better watch out or you will become an internet Icon.

  23. Madhu Kumar

    I had no problems.

Just now at IST 8 PM, I submitted my email and with in 1 second I got the registration number. (Software not installed).

Thanks Ashraf for your Free, but Great Service!

  24. Fred Smith

Re-submitted as suggested above and received the correct email with registration code, despite now being 13th May here.

I was really steamed up over this absurd stuff up.

Installed program, re-started comp when given option, entered code. Great.

  25. John Smith

I think that  Glarysoft may not intend to make the mistake. There maybe some bugs or time error setting.  It’s not worthwhile to scam.
I got my license by resubmitting  for the third times. It finally works and it said:

many thanx for your giveaway. i really like glary utilities. but i have a little question if somebody hear me :)
license is 1 year or forever?
i asked because  i saw “license expiration = never” on the program but license mail header about 1 year license?
    thanx again.

  27. DancEasyTeam (Chris)

What a pity! The same for me. Just wanted to grab this top offer, but got disappointed by a “is over” replay – that are really short 24 hrs.
    Greetings from Zurich

  28. David Goldstein

I don’t get it!!  And I didn’t get it!  The response email says the freebie ended.  Isn’t it May 12?  Maybe my calendar is fowled up!  Maybe I’m stupid or going insane – help me, please!

  29. Marco

Another “giveaway was ended”. When I shut down my computer last night at 8 PM it hadn’t started yet and now it is 9 AM so basically 13 hours later and it has already ended, are we all on the same 24 hour a day schedule????

  30. john barrentine

got e-mail, but no reg.# just adds for 1/2 price product. Said give away had ended . will try again later unless you have a different way to get reg. code  Thanks Jack B. P. S. It just 8:05 AM here in texas so there should be plenty of time left, it’s only 6 am on west coast, and it is the 12th.

  31. flommedrengen

I have just tried to resubmit my email. No luck. I get the same reply from Glarysoft “giveaway was ended“.
I have replied to Glarysoft and invited them to get it fixed and perhaps to post an explanation on this page

  32. John Briick

I also got the message that the free upgrade offer had already expired…I submitted my info. early am 5/12/2010 as required…I am very disappointed…was this some type of scam to get people to purchase the upgrade?…I certainly hope not.
    John B.

    @Farrukh-It’s a very well-known & respected utility, I’ve used for years & love it. Don’t worry a bit.
To all- if you have this GOTD, you will need to uninstall it before installing this copy & reg key. It’s uninstaller didn’t work right, so I had to use Reg Seeker to delete all the reg keys & then installed the new copy & reg key. It may be the same version as last GOTD of it, but I wanted a copy that’s actually mine, not registered to GOTD.
Huge Thanks, Ashraf! :) If you hear of any giveaways of Online Armor, please let us know. My GOTD copy expires in 15 days. Waaaaaaaa! I have come to rely on it so much!
    Have a great trip! :)
