dotTech Exclusive: Free Paragon System Backup 9.5 (unlimited licenses – free for everyone) and Paragon Backup & Recovery 10 Suite (30 licenses only)!

Once again dotTech is teaming up with Paragon Software to bring dotTechies some goodies; this time around, however, we actually have two goodies instead of just one. What do I mean exactly? What I mean is free giveaways of Paragon System Backup 9.5 (System Backup 9.5 is the exact same as System Backup 2010 [$29.95 value] except System Backup 9.5 does not have WinPE recovery media while System Backup 2010 does) and Paragon Backup & Recovery 10 Suite [$69.95 value]!

Since this promotion involves the giving away of two different software, I will address each software individually, System Backup 9.5 first then Backup & Recovery 10 Suite.

Giveaway of Paragon System Backup 9.5 (Unlimited Licenses, Free For Everyone)

As I already mentioned, Paragon System Backup 9.5 is the exact same software as Paragon System Backup 2010, except System Backup 9.5 does not come with WinPE recovery media while System Backup 2010 does (System Backup 9.5 still has the Linux based recovery media, though). So, then the question is, what exactly is Paragon System Backup? As described by me in dotTech’s full review on Paragon System Backup 2010

Paragon System Backup is a snapshot backup software. What exactly is a snapshot backup software? Think of a snapshot backup software as a mesh between Windows System Restore and your favorite image backup software. Therefore, a snapshot backup software is, more or less, a software that takes regular “snapshots” (image backups) of your computer, and allows you to restore your computer to any snapshot, similar to how you restore your computer to a “restore point” with Windows System Restore.

Here is the a list of the key features of System Backup as per the developer:

(Click on image to view list in full size.)

If you want to learn about System Backup in more detail, you can read dotTech’s full review or visit System Backup’s homepage. However, when reading up on System Backup features, note that System Backup was just recently updated; new features have been added and improvements made (System Backup 9.5 includes all these new features and improvements) such as Advanced Backup Strategy Configuration (gives you more control over program parameters), Precise Scheduling (gives you more control over how to schedule automatic backups), Adjust Backup Process Priority (CPU processing priority is more intelligently controlled by the software for automatic backups so as to not burden your computer as much when creating snapshots), and Backup Object Selection (you can now select specific partitions/volumes to backup instead of being forced to backup whole computer). In fact the update is so recent System Backup’s homepage has not yet been updated to reflect the new features. Think of dotTech as being honored by Paragon Software in the form of being provided the latest version of a software, even when Paragon’s own website has not been updated to reflect the new changes yet.

That said, I am sure everyone wants me to shut-up and just spill the beans on how to get Paragon System Backup 9.5 for free. Well, wait no longer – read on to learn how you can get Paragon System Backup 9.5 for free:

Paragon Backup & Recovery Suite is your one-stop-shop for “disaster recovery and system migration” needs. In fact, Paragon System Backup – the software that is being given out to everyone as mentioned above – is a component of Paragon Backup & Recovery Suite. Here is a quick overview of the features of Paragon Backup & Recovery 10 Suite as per the developer:

When posting a comment, please make sure you enter an e-mail that is 100% valid and an e-mail you will check because the licenses will be distributed via e-mail by me. If you win and don’t have a valid e-mail or an e-mail you don’t check, your license will go to waste. However, please don’t post your e-mail in your comment! Registration page says offer is over; however, you can still download the software and install it O.K. if you happened to have gotten a valid registration key previously and kept it. I have this funny feeling that if I say anything more about that, then such a message would be considered as out-of-bounds, so I’ll just stop and ask if anybody else has any suggestions to help someone who does not have a time machine to get key.

    Hello, here is my reply:
    1. ALL FILES, Mostlu Personal files, work files, email and documents
    2. My favourite feature is automation
    3. I think it’s a very good program, only needs to be faster
    4. I think $25  is a fair price, $5-10less is better. Free is best.

  3. annie

    @Anna Ruth:
Maybe next time try ctrl-shift-esc to bring up the Vista Task Manager.  And go off and do something else for 15 minutes to give Vista time bring the Task Manager up, and terminate the process from there.
Having said that, my husband insisted on Vista for his laptop, and often task manager is out to lunch and stays out to lunch.  It drives me nuts – I’m the maintanence person.
Bad luck on having to restore.

I can’t believe: I am one of the winners:
I have received an email (with the registration datas) from Paragon a four hours ago. I am very happy. Thank you very much, for this great giveaway. :-)
    Best regards, Christoph

  5. reddick

@Anna Ruth: First, they were just foolin’ with respect to the 18 hours. Initially, the program thinks for a bit and while it does, it calculates absurd times for the backup/restore.
It also seems odd that you’d have this problem while backing up, it will only overwrite your mbr/system (which was your problem) when it is restoring.
Bottom-line: (With all due respect), it was your stupidity that caused the problem.

  8. Anna Ruth

Boy, did I have a problem with this one. I opened it to see what it was like. When I saw the message would take 18 hours tried to stop it. It said to get out of it to press Escape key or control plus C. I tried both  and it just sat there. So I powered down as could not restart. Anyway, I had to end up doing a recovery. Took me from Saturday at midnight to Sunday evening at 4 PM. HP really messed me up and I will write a letter to CEO soon as I can.
I have Vista Home Premium SP 2.

    Re: Paragon System Backup 9.5
I have already installed the previous dotTech giveaway of this software build 9285 (25.12.09) and I would like to install this latest version to have all the new features.
Is it necessary to completely uninstall the previous version first or can I just install this new version on top of the old one?

  10. Christian Spiess

    1. I use it to save all my personal data on my PC – programs (like this giveaway), docs, pictures, video etc.
    2. What I like most is the Set-and-forget backup strategy, because I tend to be quite lazy and therefore forget to backup regularly.
    3. Overall I have no complaints – the possibility to switch to another language (for me this would be German) would be great.
    4. Of course a lower price is always not so bad – I could imagine 25 $ but nevertheless the actual price is acceptable.

  11. Irene Burgherr

    1. I use System Backup to save all my personal files – docs, pics, video clips, study documents, …
    2. I really like the incremental backup and that I can keep on working while the backup is running.
    3. Because I am not that familiar with technical terms in English, I would prefer to have the possibility to switch to German language, but at the end I can live with it.
    4. Yes, compared with other SW it is a quite fair price.

First, thanks for all of the good tips and software!  I would like to enter for a chance at winning Paragon Backup & Recovery 10 Suite.
    1.  Main files are personal – many digital pictures, financial records and personal documents.
    2.  Favorite features is incremental backups and use of computer during backups.
    3.  Dislike large download size, sometimes slow performance and no integrity check of backups that I can find.
    4.  I thin $25 range is a better price.

  13. tekknokat

    Ashraf,

I need assistance with System Backup 9.5 installation.  I am trying to install System Backup 9.5 on Windows Vista 64-bit desktop, the first time I got an error code which I forgot to write down, stating that I was missing a .cab file, and that the windows installation file 6b5f23.msi (or similar) was corrupted.  I thought maybe I experienced a bad download, and did the download again, I thought maybe I downloaded too fast at 20MB sec speeds the file downloaded in 45 seconds or less with Download Accelerator Plus, and each time the file was around 88.3 MB in size, I re-downloaded it several time as I kept having problems most of the way into installation.  I never got the .cab file missing error again, I kept getting:  Error 1901 Attempting to read from the source installation database: C:\Windows\Installer\35103bc.msi.  Each time I kept getting a different number alphabet string for the .msi file in Windows Installer, even if using the same sb95_x64.msi Windows installer file retrying.

I should mention that on this Vista 64-bit system I already have Giveaway of the Day installations of Paragon Drive Backup 9.5 Professional Edition, and Paragon Partition Manager 10 Personal, which I cannot figure out a real need for yet (Partition Manager), but like any good utility toolbox, if you don’t have it, you will need it eventually.  My knowledge and needs are constantly growing by leaps and bounds.

Could these be the reason that Paragon System Backup 9.5 will not install?  If so, would you recommend that I need to uninstall Paragon Drive Backup 9.5 so that Paragon System Backup 9.5 can install?  I want to be certain that,  1) System Backup 9.5 is the superior product.  and  2) Paragon Drive Backup 9.5 is the guilty party why I am unable to install System Backup 9.5, as once I uninstall Drive Backup 9.5, being that it is a GOTD giveaway, I cannot reinstall it if I still cannot get System Backup 9.5 to install.

I am looking to do full image backups of my hard drive of Vista 64-bit including my photos, documents (very few), OS, and applications, onto an external USB Hard Drive, and be able to confirm the integrity of the backups.  Also I would like to be able to do the same ( backup full drive, OS, photos, on external USB HD) of my Windows 7 system, which is on another hard drive that comes on the same computer (It’s an HP Pavilion Media Center which probably added the 2nd hard drive to record TV or something, I decided to install a full version of Windows 7 64 Ultimate there, the Vista 64 Home Premium came OEM Factory installed).  On the Windows 7 64-bit system I have the Giveaway of the Day Paragon Backup and Recovery 10 Compact Edition, Paragon Drive Backup 9.5 Professional Edition, and Paragon Partition Manager 10.0.  Do you think I should discard any of those for Paragon System Backup 9.5, or do you think the Paragon Backup and Recovery 10 Compact Edition can do what I am trying to accomplish?  The features page of Paragon System Backup 9.5 looks pretty awesome, and the Paragon site doesn’t have any documentation of products that we got at Giveaway of the Day.  Also, the knowledge base doens’t answer any questions I have, it is pretty limited in the anwers it does offer, it answers common sense answers to questions I could have probably answered myself most of the time, but they are never relevant to the products I have.

I really haven’t made myself known around dotTech.org, I started reading Ashraf’s reviews at Giveaway of the Day, and then I found the forum and links at the forum generally interesting and kept me consumed and busy for hours.  I found the site in January, but didn’t register until April 24, but I fear posting comments, because I have difficulty organizing my thoughts in a fashion that other people can understand.  I am very sick and physically disabled, and take lots of medications which leave me mentally disabled as a result, so it takes me hours to make a simple post just like this.  They are generally too long because I can’t say what I need to in a brief fashion.  I apologize if this annoys anyone, any suggestions and technical support you can offer would be greatly appreciated.  I am not sure if I should check the comments or my email if you are able to respond.   Time is running out for installing either Paragon System Backup 9.5, or entering the Giveaway, which is sort of impossible if I can’t install Paragon System Backup 9.5 first isn’t it?  THANK YOU in advance for your assistance and patience.

  14. J&T

I am a donor to your site.
#1:) I Primarily back up personal documents, programs, pictures, and my entire operating system.
#2:) I like the user interface and ease of use of Paragon software compared to other backup software.
#3:) The file size in comparison to other backup software seems a bit large.  Not sure what the reason for this but I would love to know one of these days.
#4:) I’m kinda stingy when it comes to buying programs, if I knew nothing about paragon and saw say Acronis for 10 bucks cheaper I would go with them.  Due to the fact of using both I know which one is more user friendly and would be willing to bite the bullet and pay the 29.95.

Thank you for the opportunity to put in for this great program.  Best of luck to all.

  15. Ramiro Garcia

    1) I mainly need a good OS backup program. Anything will backup data files, but you need serious software to do a bare-metal restore.
    2) My favorite feature of Paragon System Backup is its robustness–it worked when other backup programs would fail. Sometimes VSS issues, sometimes filesystem issues, sometimes other things would kill my other backup programs. PSB just went on and on.
    3) My least favorite feature, and the deal-killer, was its cryptic interface. I have analyzed log files at work for several years, but Paragon’s log files defeated my best efforts. I could never be sure, looking at them, whether a backup was successful or not, completed or not. When doing a backup using the Linux-based boot disk, I couldn’t tell if I was backing up the correct disk, and I couldn’t tell if the backup was being written to the correct destination. This program needs to be more user-friendly to really succeed.
    4) “Fair Price” is a very subjective judgment. It’s a fair price for a good program, and I think Paragon Backup is barely good enough to get by here.
However, I think it needs to be more user-friendly to be a great value at this price. The competitors are a lot easier to use. Since they are all around $20-30, this seems to be the “going rate” for this type of sofware.

I’d like to try the Backup and Recovery Suite. I have System Backup 10 Compact Version, which I obtained through this site.

  16. BlogWurm

    Thank you for this offer

    1) I primarily backup my personal data (documents, work files, …)
    2) I like the easy to use and intuitive program interface.
    3) Needs a lot of hdd space.
    4) I thinks $29.95 is a fair price for Paragon System Backup.

  17. Johnny

The file I would backup are my installed programs that I have installed from my give away of the day and of course backing up my OS.

A favorite feature is to have the Win Pe 2.1 for recovery my system

I would like have a better compression of file. Can Paragon compress 10gb to 5gb? Is the compression speed better that True Image or Norton Ghost15?

The price seems to be fair but there are a lot freebie out there. I think the price should be about $20.00 to $28.00. If the cost is more then they should have support and free upgrade for 2years or 3years.

  18. Janet

Installed on XP Pro SP2, but I can’t get it to open to main page. I was given no Desktop shortcut, and none of the appropriate .exe’s  in the worked (perhaps I overlooked the correct one). It appears in Start menu, but only the wizards have working icons. Clicking on the main icon gives me  “The service cannot be started either because it is disabled or it has no enabled devices associated with it”.  (?????) According to AnVir, it is not disabled. Since I have other Paragon apps on my system, I deliberately put this one on a different drive (D:), as I always have found that Paragon programs conflict with each other (like you can’t open two at the same time to compare—it always says something like the engine is already in use)…..Any suggestions how to open the main launcher?

    Thanks for any help!

  19. Antony

    Hi Ashraf,
Thank you in advance for your excellent site and generous giveaway.  Here are my answers to your questions:
    1.  Primary use of Backup software is for personal use, specifically to backup my family foto and documents
    2.  Bootable Recovery From DVD / Flashdisk.
    3. Paragon Software tends to be pretty big in disk space.
    4. I thinks it is fair price for  $29.95 but to expensive for me
I allways using the free version  of Paragon Software.  Thanks Paragon & Ashraf!

    Regards,
    Antony

  20. Gerald Roberts

1.The type of files i need to backup are Email My documents and          multiple utility applications.
2.My favorite features are Email backup selective restore from an archive virtualization manager and Vmware support.
3.I don’t like including Linux support i think you should make a full Linux version instead. To improve this software i would suggest being able to backup web mail and for instance being able to look at a particular file that was backup from Paragon lets say it was a Quick books file and be able to open that file and read it to see if this is the actual file you need to restore instead of restoring the entire archive.
4.The $29.95  price is absolutely a good and fair price.

  21. Christoph

Oh, what a nice giveaway.  :-)
My answers to your 4 questions:
    1) Files to backup: Documents and programs
    2) Backup-on-the-fly
    3) Needs a lot of space on your hard drive
    4) I think the price is fair.
I have a criticism in general: I think Paragon has many software, which are nearly the same (“Drive Backup”, “System Backup” and “Backup & Recovery”). And there are different versions of this software. I think it would be better to have fewer, in my opinion it is a bit confusing!
    Please count me in.

  22. Rajesh

Thanks dotTech and Paragon to provide such a wonderful and meaningful opportunity.

    My Answers are here:
    1) – My types of files to backup: All type of files (data files as in excel and access, documents, photos, sound and songs, Personal videos, emails, installed software with latest updates etc).

    2
) – Favorite feature of the software: There are many but I would like to pickup first 3.
    A) – Product has easy to use interface so even the first time users can perform the task quickly and easily.
    B) – P2V Restore feature- Restore existing backup images to a virtual environment. So if your hardware fails you can still work with your applications in a virtual environment on any other computer.
    C) – File Increments feature- This application keeps tracking changes in hard drive and when it detects changes, an incremental backup is executed.

    3) – Dislike about software: As a layman user (I have not done much experiment with other software) I did not find any.

    4) – Fair price? Yes, $29.95 is a fair price for the software, because a free version is also available though feature are quite less.

    For
    Paragon System Backup 9.5

Recovering/booting from outside of Windows without bootable media does not work for me. Any idea? Is it necessary WinPE?

In the moment my CD-ROM does not work/ &no USB-booting(old BIOS). I installed Linux in separate partition for boot from it and to do image of partition with Windows (XP Home, x32). With GRUB in boot I can choose to boot in Win or Linux, but there is no possibility/option to choose to boot Paragon SB..

  24. Lee

Please note: I am a donor!

    1. Files Backed-up:  I primarily backup work documents and databases for the various software applications that I use. I also backup the software applications  themselves.

    2. Favourite Feature: The easy to use GUI. This makes the software user friendly and non-intimidating.

    3. Dislikes/Possible improvements?: The inability to put the recovery boot function on a usb drive. Addition of this functionality would be good.

    4. Cost of software: I think $29.95 is a fair price for Paragon System Backup.

I look forward to the results of the draw.

Ashraf, thanks for organising this draw/promotion.

  25. Carol Peyser

I primarily need to back up a work file which is my practice management system.  I do daily backups but if my set-up of the basic program was jeopardized it would be very cumbersome

What types of files do you primarily need to backup? my work files as above

What is your favorite feature of Paragon System Backup?   Ability to go to a snapshot of a past set up, control over automatic scheduling

What do you dislike about Paragon System Backup or what can be improved in Paragon System Backup?   Having to back up whole computer as I understand it

Do you think $29.95 is a fair price for Paragon System Backup?          Yes

Thanks for entering me in the drawing

  26. Pat A

Thank you so much for this opportunity.

Q1 – What types of files do you primarily need to backup? (I.E. Backing up personal files, work files, school files, documents, programs, etc.)
My life is on my laptop and my desktop. This is the simplest way to protect everything and get it back unscathed.

Q2 – What is your favorite feature of Paragon System Backup?
The simplicity of the layout. I am one of the advanced users in a local computer club and this program is the easiest to use that I have ever found. I have used all of the “big name” software over the years and this has just jumped to my number one favorite. It is easy enough for even the most inexperienced user to figure out. I will highly recommend and demonstrate it  to them.

Q3 – What do you dislike about Paragon System Backup or what can be improved in Paragon System Backup?
The dislike is the program needs to tell you that a blank CD MUST be loaded into your drive BEFORE hitting the next button to create the recovery boot CD (not just show an obscure error message with no explanation of why your boot CD was not created).
The only thing I can come up with to improve this program is that I wish it had the option to put the recovery boot function on a USB device, be it flash drive or the same USB hard drive you are using to store the snapshot images.

Q4 – Do you think $29.95 is a fair price for Paragon System Backup? If not, please state the price you would be willing to pay.
Yes, this is a fair price.

  27. Edison Rosa

Question 1: Documents, work files and personal data.
Question 2: I like the interface of Paragon programs. It´s intuitive and very easy to deal with.
Question 3: Sometimes, Paragon’s software are a bit slow.
Question 4: About the price, I think $29,95 is a good price for what the program offers.

  28. grage

    (1)  personal files (specially camera images)

    (2)  bootable USB flash support is best feature

    (3)  big download size. They should provide Ultra Compression archives of setup files (for fast downloading and testing in less time)

    (4)  yes, the price is OK (if user needs almost all the feature of Paragon Backup & Recovery 10 Suite)

Q1: What types of files do you primarily need to backup?A1: I am writing a book so a back up of these files is essential.  I also do a lot of online gaming (WoW) so backing up the settings and add-ons etc is also essential.Q2: What is your favorite feature of Paragon System Backup?A2: I have used the Paragon programs in the past given away with magazines/sites and have found them always to be ultra reliable and bug free.Q3: What do you dislike about Paragon System Backup or what can be improved in Paragon System Backup?A3: Flexibility – ie the ability to not include a folder of file or only to include a file that contains certain words.Q4: Do you think $29.95 is a fair price for Paragon System Backup?A4: Very fair – i would have no problems in paying that – I think it is a very fair price.

What types of files do you primarily need to backup? (I.E. Backing up personal files, work files, school files, documents, programs, etc.)

Partitions, mostly. Using Paragon to backup individual files is like using a canon to kill that pesky fly in your house … waaay to much overkill. Fbackup (my personal favorite) is much better for that IMHO

What is your favorite feature of Paragon System Backup?

Reliability. Together with Ghost & Acronis it just works. I’ve used this *a lot* and have never had a problem.

User Interface. Of the big 3 (see above) Paragon is the easiest. With Acronis, I *always* had the feeling that I was about to make a mistake and overwrite a partition that I had not intended. Paragon is clear and easy.

Before I tried the (freebie) Paragon backup, I was *committed* to Acronis (as in, ‘don’t even *bother* to consider anything else’. Now I haven’t used Acronis in so long that I don’t even know where the Acronis boot disk is.).
What do you dislike about Paragon System Backup or what can be improved in Paragon System Backup?

Comodo Backup has the ability to launch it’s restore on the next restart without a startup disk/usb. Not a fan of Comodo Backup in general but I like THAT. Acronis has the ability to sit in the mbr. Press a key at the start and it kicks in so you don’t need a startup disk. I don’t like that as much because I don’t like messing with the mbr BUT it is handy in an emergency if you lose the startup usb.

Speed. Paragon is somewhat slower than Acronis. It isn’t a deal-breaker but I’d like to see parity between the 2. If Acronis can do it, Paragon should be able to, as well.
Do you think $29.95 is a fair price for Paragon System Backup? If not, please state the price you would be willing to pay.

Acronis is $25 @ Amazon and — if I had to choose between the two — I’d probably STILL choose Paragon because of the interface but $5 LESS than Acronis would make it a much easier decision.

    Hello Ashraf,
    Here are the respective answers:
    1) I mostly backup my collection of video clips and mp3 songs. This collection gets frequently updated because I often download media clips from the net.
    2) The ability to adjust backup process priority is my favourite feature. Now this feature may not mean much to a new system owner but it definitely makes a lot of difference to those whose PC is about 4-5 years old(or more!!).
    3) In my opinion, there should be an option to adjust the compression level even for the automatic backup mode. This feature is especially important for those backup scenarios when the backup image is being stored on the computer hard disk itself through the use of backup capsule.
    4) The asking price is a bit high according to me for such a simplified software.I would be willing to pay $24.95 max.

  32. WECH

    (1) system full image backup for recovery

    (2) if you’re talking about this SB9.5, I think it’s over simplified, I would rather use HD manager 2010, especially the boot corrector and partition manipulation features.

    (3) I config it to backup the main system partition to the backup partition(3 times larger, also Primary), but it kept showing the big red screen. I know it’s not perfect to store backup on the same disk, but that’s how I want it to do, the HDM2010 doesn’t nag me.

    (4) I wouldn’t buy it when other Paragon product better suit

  33. annie

    - Types of file backed up:
Personal files and folders, especially photos.  Also entire My Documents from time to time, including downloaded programs.  Entire hard drive once every 6 months or so.

    – Favorite feature of Paragon System Backup:
The user interface is clear, well laid out, unambiguous and easy to use.

-Dislike about Paragon System Backup or what can be improved in Paragon System Backup:
It’s not hugely fast, but having said that I’d prefer accuracy to speed.

-Is $29.95 is a fair price for Paragon System Backup:
Yes, I think this is fair.

  34. coolczone

    Hi Ashraf,
one of my favorite software you have.
So I know for sure that I could use this giveaway.
I will back up primarily my entire computer, disasters hapent and it will   on my computer. This includes school files and my programs.
My favorite feature is the recovery CD as this gives me the opportunity to reinstall my OS anytime within minutes and mostly unattended.
I had couple attempts to reinstall my program, tried to roll back and lost my data. Of course it is a warning about this , but I would love a feature that allows you to roll back and not loose your data, or some kind of temporary backup for your documents and folders you wish to overwrite.J ust temporary, in case that you forget your work in to the documents folder and in the meanwhile you try to restore your system.
The price is fear enough considering the concurrence and the features it brings up.

  35. Vi

    - I do backup personal files, but mostly i make system image.
    – That have to be full backup and password protection.
    – I don’t like that Paragon doesn’t have bart pe plugin. The plugin has to be downloaded manually and then made and also has to be deleted one entry when booted before usage. That sucks IMHO.
To Paragon dudes : Make some plugin that is easy to install, easy to use..
    – Price is more less good. With some promotions and discounts that Paragon is giving from time to time the price should be very O.K.

  36. Kegger

    Hi Ashraf,

Thank you in advance for your excellent site.  It is part of my daily regime to visit your site.  Here are my answers to your questions:

    1.  Primary use of Backup software is for personal use, specifically to backup my kids photos.
    2.  I really love the Backup & Restore to or from FTP.
    3. Paragon Software tends to be pretty big in disk space.
    4. I would suggest more towards the price of $39.95

I am a big fan of Paragon Software.  Thanks Paragon & Ashraf!

  37. Scott Davis

Q1: What types of files do you primarily need to backup?
A1: I provide free training for construction folks. Inspectors, Craftspeople, and Designers for Building Codes compliance. I have generated  answer/questions for thousands of Code issues – all with two fingers and a thumb. No, I still own all my digits – just cannot type. I need to stare at keys as I push them down as well. Lame huh? I am almost 60 years old and it isn’t likely to improve anytime soon. Point is that I would be decimated if somehow they were all lost without a backup.
Q2: What is your favorite feature of Paragon System Backup?
A2: Until this attempt at “Today is your lucky day!” status, I have been grateful for the Paragon free backup utility. The version now being marketed has automatic features and migration tools that would be a blessing.
Q3: What do you dislike about Paragon System Backup or what can be improved in Paragon System Backup?
A3: I am a bit intimidated by the choices. It has so many types of tools to maintain and modify. I am prone to only use the step-by-step method I have printed out. It may well be that the automated wizards would assuage my fears.
Q4: Do you think $29.95 is a fair price for Paragon System Backup?
A4: Like any insurance policy, this tool would be worth whatever it costs in a disaster scenario. Also just like insurance, it is hard to shell out the bucks. I think that in today’s market the $30 price is high enough to have perceived value and low enough to be obtainable. Seems like a good number to me.

  38. Luchriste

    1. I want to backup my peronal data ,projects&work files, the entire system.
    2. I like the backup & restore functions as mentioned.
    3. It’s possible that to restore (replace)the entire system in normal Windows mode.
    4. Selling price will be more acceptable to be less than$20.

Please count me in for the contest.
    Thanks & Regards

    Author/Mr. Boss

@Mike Brazil: Taking a quick look at it – note this is a quick look – I believe Paragon Hard Disk Manager 2010 Suite has most/all of the backup and restore features of Paragon Backup & Recovery 10 Suite, but Paragon Backup & Recovery 10 Suite has some extra data migration/virtualization (i.e. migrating data from computer to computer, and such) features that Paragon Hard Disk Manager 2010 Suite does not have. You can compare them yourself by taking a look at these two PDFs:

Hope that helps. Please do let me know if you still want to be entered in the drawing for Paragon Backup & Recovery 10 Suite.

  40. Robin

What types of files do you primarily need to backup? (I.E. Backing up personal files, work files, school files, documents, programs, etc.)
=> Personal and work files consisting primarily of documents, databases, music, and photos. Also, settings for applications that I don’t want to have to reconfigure.
What is your favorite feature of Paragon System Backup?
=> The relative speed and ease in creating a backup image, automated or on-the-fly.
What do you dislike about Paragon System Backup or what can be improved in Paragon System Backup?
=> Large file size, but it sort of comes with the territory.
Do you think $29.95 is a fair price for Paragon System Backup? If not, please state the price you would be willing to pay.
=> Compared to similar apps, that’s about right, but I don’t have experience with the competition at the moment for a more enlightened response.

  41. OldElmerFudd

@Mike Brazil: You know, I looked at the two side-by-side, and couldn’t see any difference in the capabilities of B&R functions between them. (I have HDM 2010, too.) Accordingly, I elected to pass on this giveaway, but you may decide otherwise. Fwiw, I’m a donor too.

I use a mix of software on my machines. While Acronis 2010 is on all of them, I have HDM 2010 on a couple and another commercial backup program on the rest. Every machine has a dedicated external drive for storing the images and backups. I’m even crazy enough to store duplicates through my network.

  42. Fred

Count me in for a free license
    1) personal files, photos, documents and programs
    2) incremental backup
    3) paragon products installers are always quite big. and please offer x86 and 64bit version separate (or do the combined versions only appear as giveaways?)
    4) i think price is OK. a bit lower about 5 – 10 bucks would be nice anyway.

  43. Burhan Ahmed

First thank you for the free software
    1. My primary use of backup software is to backup my software projects as they are my countless hours of work
    2. My fav feature is full pc backup … its soo much better than windows 7`s built in backup feature which takes ages to take backup.
    3. I want a network backup feature to backup my other pc on the same network. I hope i am not asking too much from a 29$ software
    4. Its totally fair price. i think its a very good solution for a very reasonable price . Thanks

  44. Kerry

    1. I backup help files I use to help others who depend on me to keep their pc’s going.  I also back up my part diagrams and part numbers and price I use for my small engine business/
    2. I like the option of backing up just folders or data or the whole drive if I have room. very handy for me as I am on dialup and its only at 28.8kb’s. So downloaded stuff is crucial to keep separate.
    3. I think the program should auto alert you when any default setting you choose has been changed,  But then I think windows should do that also then we would not have such problems with drivers and settings getting changed when you install or uninstall a program.  I think the files should be smaller.
    4.  operating as well as it does means its worth the money but having dicounted upgrades would be better.

  45. John C

I back up personal files, programs, music…
favorite features:   Virtualization, Boot Corrector, Paragon Hot Processing
Possible Improvements:  more speed, better howto guide for newbies.
$19.95 is a fair price for Paragon System Backup

  46. Mongoplus

    Hello

I would love to have this program, as I have had some bad things goning on with my computers (3).  One had a power supply go and it took out my HDD.  The second was a laptop that was dropped when I leant it to a friend (It will not work).  The third was my server which after allowing a friend to work on it (the same one who dropped my laptop) and afterwards was attacked by a very nasty virus.

So you came see why I would love to have this program.

Thank you for the opportunity for a free license.

Please keep up the great work you are doing here.

  47. Gil

Q: What types of files do you primarily need to backup? (I.E. Backing up personal files, work files, school files, documents, programs, etc.)
A: I backup files that are system or application related, like my .pst files for Outlook, bookmarks/favorites for FF/IE, personal files which include documentation for the neighborhood association I run in the neighborhood, pictures I take which can be as many as 5,000 per year (I’m the official family photographer and I share every photo on my website and a CD to each family at the end of the year), work file backups, all my school files (I’m a full-time student as well as belong to Phi Theta Kappa, Student Ambassador and I tutor other students), programs/applications and more. I try to backup everything I’ve got on a weekly basis to an external hard drive and kept in a 1,000 pound fire-proof safe. Much of my life is on my computer and I don’t want to lose it.
Q: What is your favorite feature of Paragon System Backup?
A: Ease of use, without a doubt. It’s easy to find things and it’s easy to navigate about. Like any software, there’s a learning curve, but Paragon’s seems to be rather small. It’s easy to learn.
Q: What do you dislike about Paragon System Backup or what can be improved in Paragon System Backup?
A: A good verification means – a log file for example – that is easy to search and is in clear, plain English.
Q: Do you think $29.95 is a fair price for Paragon System Backup? If not, please state the price you would be willing to pay.
A: Yes! When I see what others charge for similar products, and trying some of them, I think Paragon’s is a good deal for the money. I’ve not had to use their support, but I’ve read numerous tales where others have needed to. The majority had no complaints; the others, well – they probably wanted free tickets included to a Packers/Vikings game in 2010.

  48. Zhelyu

Hi, thanks for giving us a chance to get free the Paragon backup and recovery suite. I want to participate. Here are my answers:
Q1 – I would like to make 3 types of backups:
    1. entire system partition, so I can do that after a fresh Windows install and then easily restore my PC if it crashes;
    2. several specific folders, containing mostly documents and images
    3. As I am quite a fan of CS Source and constantly add new maps from sites like cstrike-planet.com, I would love to be able to backup a single game, along with all my maps, settings, etc.
Q2. – I like the option to backup in a folder on a network, because when you backup on another partition, and you harddrive breaks down, then you have nothing. I also like the option to exclude some partitions – actually I have two, C & D, and I want to backup only C.
Q3. -I really wish Paragon System Backup would place a shortcut to the main agent  on my desktop, so I don’t have to search for it and find in the Program files folder lots of exeS, that I don’t know before I try what they do.  I might also due to the hurrying in the installation to have skipped this option, though, as it’s commonly used.
Also, it would be wonderful, if it could do something like Altiris SVS – installing an app to a virtual package, which can be activated or deactivated. This keeps the PC clean. Sadly, Altiris SVS does not run on Win 7 X64.  But I guess this is more of a pre-install virtualization than of backup, so it’s not for this product.
Q4. – Well, I think that $30 (OK, almost $ 30) is a fair price for a country, where people have high salaries, however it’s a high price for poorer states. I live in Bulgaria, and my preferred price – in respect of my salary – would be 10 BGN – or that is approx. 5 Euro.
Sorry for the not so good English, but I am not a native speaker. If something is unclear, email me and I will explain what I mean.
    Greetings,
    Zhelyu

  49. PaulM

Use: Backing up personal files (whole computer.)
Favorite:  Seems easier to use than older versions.  Haven’t had to backup yet so don’t know how good it will be with a system crash.
Least Favorite: Don’t have any yet.
Fair Price:  Hope I don’t have to find out.  If it saves me in a catastrophic crash, then its is worth the price & a lot more.

  50. Steve McAfee

    – Until recently, the only files I really felt the need to backup were encrypted financial records. Now, however, I’ve taken on the project of copying all of my parents old photos and slides to digital. I definitely need to start backing up my hard drive.
    — Aside from the stability and security of using Paragon products, I’d have to say my favorite feature is the included WinPE functionality.
    — Shortcomings, in my opinion, are that there is no verification of the image and no backup to ftp.
    — The only programs I’m generally willing to pay much for are system protection and recovery utilities. For these I want the best. $29.95 for Paragon? Yes!
Thanks to Paragon – they’ve really been getting their name out there recently – and to DotTech.

  51. Mark Churchill

    1.  I use it for partition backups as well as file backups. It helps me to preserve all my important personal, work, & school files.
    2.  I adore the incremental backup feature.
    3.  Both file size and program speed could be improved upon.  Including the Win PE feature in the latest version was a smart move.
    4.  Nice price… could be nicer. $24.95 for V 9.5  and $34.95 for 2010 version would be more appropriate.
Much thanx and blessings go out to Ashraf and Paragon.

  52. PeterB

    hi
First, thank you dotTech and Paragon for this great giveaway and offer.
I would like to enter your contest for Paragon Backup & recovery 10 suite.
    1. I do a complete backup on my every day pc. But just as a base line. I use it to test new software and can quickly roll back in case of a disaster. My document files, programs, favorites/bookmarks, I copy to another pc.
    2. My favorite feature is that you still can use the pc, while it is backing up and of course the built in recoverycd.
    3. What i dislike is the lack of control, but for that is the Paragon Backup and Recovery.  As an example, that you cannot exclude a hidden folder like “System Volume Information”.
    4. I think that the price 29.95 is okay.
    Thanks

  53. Mike Brazil

First, I have a question for Ashraf: Is Backup and Recovery 10 Suite any different or improved from the backup functions of Hard Disk Manager 2010 Suite? If there are any significant improvements or added features, I’d like to put my name in for the drawing as a donor (answers to questions are below). If it’s the same thing except that it’s broken out as a separate program, then just discard my entry, since I don’t want to reduce anybody else’s chance of winning if I already have all the capabilities of Backup and Recovery Suite in Hard Disk Manager Suite.
    1. Types of files:
I like to back up my entire drives periodically so that all the settings, tweaks, customizations, add-ins, etc.  that I’ve made or added to both the operating system and applications won’t be lost if a problem occurs. I also back up changed data files (personal files only — I’m retired) on a daily basis. My full backups are on DVDs and R/W DVDs (Regular DVDs once every few months and R/W DVDs every couple of weeks). My incremental data backups are on an external HDD. I keep one set of backup DVDs in the house for convenience and my daughter keeps another set at her house for me in case of a fire or other disaster.
    2. Favorite feature:
Ability to create a bootable backup DVD or flash drive to make restores quicker and easier. It’s also very handy to be able to include other files of your own choosing on the DVD or flash drive so that you have diagnostic tools handy when you need them.
    3.  Dislikes:
All of Paragon’s programs including System Backup tend to be rather large in terms of installer size and the applications’ installed size compared to the competition. Backup speed is also somewhat on the slow side.
    4. Price:
Given the amount of competition in the current market for backup utilities, I think $29.95 is a bit high. I’d be much more likely to purchase if it were $19.95 or even $24.95.

  54. harvick29

    1. What type of files will I back up?  Personal files and programs
    2. Favorite feature?  Selective restore
    3. Improvement?  Need a way to verify the integrity of the backup before being required to use it.
    4. Price? Very reasonable price
    Thank you Ashraf and Paragon

  55. Angelo PUGLIESE

OK: thank you fro giving me the chance :o)

    1) I NEED to securely & regularly back-up all the gigabytes of my collection of about 18,000 digital books;

    2) the easy way (almost automatic, with those wizards!) of solving such an old, tedious & painful task, like backing-up one’ data, which everybody knows HAS TO BE DONE but almost NOBODY DOES, for its usually complex & boring procedure;

    3) the huge download upfront may discourage the 1st-comers, but for such a complex piece of software is not really unusual;

    4) the really sweet-spot as a price could be 19.95 $, but who better than the SW programmers & managers know the good balance between their invested time & effort vs. the lowest possible marketing mark-up?

    ALL the BEST and
    THANK YOU in any case
    (even if I can’t win…
the consolation price is still sooo goood!  :o)

  56. Mohammed Sarhan

What types of files do you primarily need to backup?

Backing up personal files and work documents.

What is your favorite feature of Paragon System Backup?

Migration between operating systems even with virtualization

What do you dislike about Paragon System Backup or what can be improved in Paragon System Backup?

    Backup speed should be enhanced.

Do you think $29.95 is a fair price for Paragon System Backup? If not, please state the price you would be willing to pay.

I think the price is good compared to features.

  57. STF4all

I am a donor – Yeah! I am so excited about having this opportunity again since I missed the deadline last time. That being said……
    1. All files (my system too) especially documents, pictures and downloads since I use them for my work.
    2. The help menu and instructions since I tend to be a computer misfit on my own. I can follow directions without any problems and understand what I read so that is why I appreciate the help menu. The programs are very easy to follow so any newbie should be comfortable with this software (I am!).
    3. It is a large download so I am glad I have an external hard drive. Paragon offers so many different types of software, sometimes it is hard to know which one is the best for what you are trying to do (for the less knowledgeable….image backup, hd backup, do you need drive backups, etc)
    4. $29.95 seems to be the going rate and I know Paragon is an excellent software. I would probably purchase a ‘suite’ even if it costs more rather than purchase individual programs.
    Thanks again Ashraf and Paragon!

  58. northernexposure

Thanks, Ashraf,  for the chance to win a license for this giveaway.  I’m a big fan of Paragon and have been using B&R for quite a while and would love the chance to win a key for the Recovery Suite, which I’ve been keeping my eye on!    Here are my answers to your questions:

What types of files do you primarily need to backup?  Although I primarily would use this for my business, I also would use this for personal files.

What is your favorite feature of Paragon System Backup?  My favorite feature is that the software is VERY easy to understand!  I usually end up using the “wizard” feature, since it walks me through the process step-by-step, and whenever I need to do a restore, this program never fails!
What do you dislike about Paragon System Backup or what can be improved in Paragon System Backup?  While I’m very happy with the features of this program, the one thing that I might offer is to try and make the steps in the image recovery process a bit more user-friendly.  Again, the process isn’t hard, although it’s not entirely intuitive for individuals that don’t have as much experience in doing this.
Do you think $29.95 is a fair price for Paragon System Backup?  I think this is a competitive price to pay for this product.  I’m looking for ease of use and reliability and you definitely get both with this software.

  59. Mike

Please enter me in the Paragon Backup & Recovery 10 Suite giveaway.

    Answers to the questions:

    1.  Information captured from the Internet:  downloads, webpage captures, documents, etc.  Really, in the end, my entire system needs continual backing up, as it constantly is changing.

    2.  The ease with which a backup can be set and then run; the state restore feature.

    3.  I wish the software size was smaller (but that often is the case); I would like greater interactive assistance for if questions arise when setting backups and system settings.

    4.  $30 is a fair price, but I wonder, as there are so many backup programs out there and many free ones, if $5 or $10 less would make sense.

@Ashraf:  I am a contributor to dotTech by the way of publicizing dotTech in other forums on the web (e.g. Slickdeals.net) to direct traffic here, if that counts (along with postings here, to provide info. (such as other free offers) to other readers) …

  60. Chuck

What types of files do you primarily need to backup?   All files especially outlook where I have years of folders with important info.
What is your favorite feature of Paragon System Backup?  Auto back-up and creation of a recovery disc.
What do you dislike about Paragon System Backup or what can be improved in Paragon System Backup?  It is a little slow.
Do you think $29.95 is a fair price for Paragon System Backup?  I think the price is competitive.

  61. teo-tk

1/What types of files do you primarily need to backup?
-System backup, programs, documents, pictures, HTML.

2/What is your favorite feature of Paragon System Backup?
-Recovering from outside Windows without bootable media – Perfect!

3/What do you dislike about Paragon System Backup or what can be improved in Paragon System Backup?
-Unable to choose separate partition to backup in automatic snapshots. To improve – more flexibility and freedom to choose what and when to backup, especially in automatic snapshots.

4/Do you think $29.95 is a fair price for Paragon System Backup?
    -Yes.

    Thanks Ashraf,
    thanks Paragon Software!

A All downloads and personal data

Q What is your favorite feature of Paragon System Backup?
    A P2V Copy

Q What do you dislike about Paragon System Backup or what can be improved in Paragon System Backup?
    A backup and restore speed

Q Do you think $29.95 is a fair price for Paragon System Backup?
A I think $20 would be better. This is a very good program however, there are free alternatives and   equally good competing programs.

  63. Henryk Kowalczyk

Thank you for bringing this offer to us.
    1. Documents and system backup files.
    2. Recovery system based on WinPE.
    3. From a non-user perspective?  None so far.
    4. In my experience Paragon software is high quality and can be relied upon to get the job done – the price seems fair to me.
    Kind regards

    1) Used to back up my Software, Documents. Pictures and music
    2) Back up on the fly feature is good.
    3) Could be faster.
    4) 29.95 is  reasonable.
    Thanks Ashraf for this offer.

  65. Robert Reilly

Just a tiny complaint about the contest:

I wish we could find out a day ahead of the expiration of the 9.5 giveaway if we didn’t win – It would save us from installing both if we do win.

  66. Jeanjean

A big thank you for this offer.
My answers are in the order of your questions:
    a) my personal files, my emails, my programs;
    b) the fact that it replaces the Windows restore points effectively ;
    c) being user of EAZ Fix, I already enjoys the benefits that can bring me a program such as Paragon Backup System.
The only difference – important for me – is the space required to store snapshots and the time taken to make them (even the basic snapshot takes little time with EAZ and it takes 5-10 seconds for the following!).
    d) yes.

    Good weekend !

  67. Robert Reilly

What types of files do you primarily need to backup?
Personal documents, Family Photos, School Project Files, Game Saves, Downloads
What is your favorite feature of Paragon System Backup?
Automated back-up of the entire system – I have not used this yet so I am eager to see how well it works.  Also it sounds much better than just simple recovery because it allows you to restore on updated hardware with it’s own adaptation technology (sounds a bit too good to be true) – this sounds like makes it great for doing component upgrades or upgrading a machine without losing all of your installed apps.  I would expect the need to install drivers and do system and installation tweeks if migrating data to a different computer. But  I don’t see any alternative on the market that claims to handle cloning and adaptive restore to an alternative machine.  Any functionality at all would be awesome.
What do you dislike about Paragon System Backup or what can be improved in Paragon System Backup?
It seems like only the commercial versions support backup to ftp server – that would be a very cool feature for those that need it.  Apparently it’s not included with the home use versions
Do you think $29.95 is a fair price for Paragon System Backup? If not, please state the price you would be willing to pay.
Paragon prices have always been well worth the investment.  Since there is not many good quality products that could compare I think the pricing is just fine.  If you look at many of the productivity suites out there that have unique features, they cost hundreds of dollars.  Utility programs are typically much cheaper and highly competitive.  Paragon is almost alone in this class and quality of Disk and Partition tools – So I give the prices and quality a thumbs up !

  68. J.J.

I like to back up everything (image) rather than selected files.
Favorite feaure is the inclusion of WinPE recovery media.  Nest to favorite feature is the ability to record to DVDs and other off computer media.
Dislike:  I have never understood the concept of the archive file .  This could be better explained.  Where it is stored?  Do I need to access it?  What purposes does it serve?  How does it function in restore?  What purpose does it serve in restoration?
    $29.95 is a fair price

What types of files do you primarily need to backup?: I’m planning on backing up the whole hard drive before I switch OS’s, but I’m not sure then that’ll be.
What is your favorite feature of Paragon System Backup?: Backing up things in the first place.
What do you dislike about Paragon System Backup or what can be improved in Paragon System Backup?: Speed is always an issue, but nothing can really be done about that.
Do you think $29.95 is a fair price for Paragon System Backup?: For all the unrecoverable files on my drive, this would actually be cheap.

  77. tj

The file I would backup are my programs that I installed and of course backing up my OS.

A favorite feature is to have the WinPe for recovery.

I would like have a better compression of file. Is the compression speed better that True Image or Norton Ghost15?

The price seems to be fair but having it as a giveaway or freebie is better. I think the price should be about $20.00 to $28.00. If the cost is more then they should have support and free upgrade for 2years or 3years.

  78. OldElmerFudd

    Hi Ashraf!
Very nice giveaway offers on the programs – you do come through for your readers! Since I have a paid version of Hard Disk Manager 2010, I’ll pass on these, but thanks for the opportunity.
    Enjoy your vacation.

  79. Jef

I will backup system drive (with all installed programs) and a data drive with personal things like work documents, downloaded paid software, videos, pictures, and music.
My favorite feature is the selective restore which is a large gain of time.
I would like to have some kind of cheksum on individual files to be able to verify periodically the good state of files
I think thant the price of  $29.95 is fair for the features given

  80. Karl

Oooo … this one is the Paragon’s “Kitchen Sink” offerings .. it has everything including their virtualization software which works quite well with options to create any of the common VMs.  If your into VMs or just need good backup s/w put your name in the hat .. you’ll love this one!  (Ashraf – don’t enter me for this one .. I already have most of what it’s offering)

  81. Tortuga

    Dear Ash :-D
Yes indeed, please throw my name into the hat for Backup & Recovery 10 Suite
Yes, I am a donor (but not via this eMail)

    About Paragon:
•1. Programs; Personal files & my 1T HD of music!
    •2. Ability to continue working while the programs does it’s thing; Selective restore;
•3. As Chinaguy said, there must be a way to verify integrity, otherwise it’s only when one restores that the bad surprise hits…
    •4. $30. is a fair price

Thank you Paragon for the offer
    Have a great day
    Peace

  82. Unified

I have a small business in IT Services and Support and I design solutions for small to medium business. So it will mostly the who OS partition backup as well as the backup partition in their PC/Server depends on whether they have any dedicated backup partition. If they don’t have backup partition then it would be straight to their external HDD.
    Rescue or Bootable DVD/CDs.
I think the time and processing power it takes to run the backup. If these are improved then it would be a fantastic all-rounder.
I think $29.95 is fair price considering it will do a lot of job and in the event of a disaster it will save a lot of time, money and unwanted hassle.

  83. Cyrus

Thank you for giving me the opportunity to take part in this fine giveaway. My need for backup has to do primarily with work and personal files. That includes various kinds of documents, as well as datasheets, with information that is periodically renewed. I’ve been using Paragon System Backup 2010 for about 5 months, because i wanted to try it as an overall solution for my system settings. My favorite feature is that you can set it and forget it – it’s very easy to let it automatically do the task for you every time you connect it to an external hard disk. And also the speed (not the first time – the next times) is fair. But it was not the solution i was searching for, because i’d prefer that it could give the option for file backup or incremental file backup, along with the overall system backup. I think that this could save me some more time. And if it also provided the option of mounting images it would be perfect. But these are included in the Backup and Recover Suite – that’s why i take part in this giveaway hoping to win it. But taking all my specific needs and wishes into account, i think that Paragon Sytem Backup price is not quite fair. In my opinion, they should integrate some more features in their sytem bakup solution and make it really an OVERALL solution (no need for different products).

  84. pallen

You call Backup and Recovery free when you have to write an essay, for it.Or maybe this is a job interview, whoever writes the best review gets the job.Easy for you to say, college boys.Well all I can say is”I DON’T KNOW”.Oh, by the way ,when you get back from vacation I want you to write an essay on HOW I SPENT MY SUMMER VACATION,thank you.WOW my fingers hurt now.HA!HA!HA!Just laughs.

  85. Michael

    Hey,
I would enjoy to get a license for Paragon Backup & Recovery 10 Suite. :-)
    My answers:
    1.  Primarily I have to backup programs and documents.
    2.  The favorite Feature: Easy restore to previous state
    3. I agree, that the size of this download is very big. I think it would be a nice feature, if you add some languages (the most important like German, french, …) I haven’t seen something like that.
    4. I think it is a fair prize, because it is one of the best backup-software with a lot of features.
    Best regards, Michael

  86. vhick

What types of files do you primarily need to backup?

I usually backup office files and personal files as this is precious to me and very hard to research again if this files lost.

What is your favorite feature of Paragon System Backup?

What I really like in Paragon System Backup is very very easy to use for novice users. Just backup and restore snapshot. A first step in backup practices for novice.

What do you dislike about Paragon System Backup or what can be improved in Paragon System Backup?

What I dislike about Paragon System Backup is the ability to compress snapshot. As it compare to other snapshot software like Comodo Time Machine. And the lag when doing snapshot while on your work.

Do you think $29.95 is a fair price for Paragon System Backup? If not, please state the price you would be willing to pay.

I think $29.95 is fair enough as Paragon products is always reliable and worth piece of software to rely on. But if they lower the price a little more, much better to customers.

  87. AlanR

    Paragon Backup & Recovery 10 Suite (Questionnaire Response);

    1) All files, especially those written by default to My Documents, AppData etc., on main HDD that are not automatically saved to removeable drives.
    2) Backup-on-the-fly, Easily Restore to Previous State &  System Migration.
    3) Download size – as most from Paragon – is too big, typically because dual Win.32 & 64 versions incorporated in same file.
    4) Price? Suggest  $15~20 would be more attractive.

  88. ADDRiVER

A really great offer today! I like the programs by Paragon, because of the high quality and the compatibility with the operating systems.
I think with this Suite you become a all in one HDD Tool that you sure sometime need.
    Supported Operating Systems: Windows 7 (32-bit und 64-bit), Windows Vista (32-bit und 64-bit), Windows XP (32-bit und 64-bit), Windows, 2000 Professional SP4
Internet Explorer 5.0 or higher,Intel Pentium CPU or equivalent with 1 GHz or higher,128 MB RAM (we recommend 256 MB or more),Hard drive with at least 150 MB free space
Really good that you can use it on a old System too!

    (+ low preconditions)

    I hope I win something!
    Thank you Ashraf !

  89. armond52

    Thank you for the opportunity.
    And the answers are:
    1 – Partition images.
    2 – Smart backup engine.
3 – I think the key feature of the s/w (continuous snapshot or Time-Machine type backups) is not fully conveyed by Paragon in the software’s description, etc.
4 – Pretty much in the ball park for all the features.

  90. Benjamin

    1. I will backup my personal files which includes videos, pictures and my big chuck of music, losing those stuffs will surely make me cry till my tears run dry. XD

    2. My favorite feature is the selective restore which allow me to teach which stuffs to restore and i don’t have to restore the whole thing and delete stuffs i don’t need, it will save me a lot of time.

    3. It does not seem to do any compression on the backup files but of course it will be fast as it don’t have to compress those huge files.

    4. I think the price is pretty fair and it gives so many features and is only for $29.95.

    double thumbs up!! d(>w<)b

Thanks dottech.org and PARAGON Software Group!

  91. mishasin

  92. Pat Perez

My back up needs consist of a variety of things including school work for my kids, some work related files, alot of programs(i’m a download junkie) and music and pics being the “big” ones.

I would say my favourite feature would be to do a complete backup as you work on the pc and the fact that you can do external backups.

My dislike of the program is that it seems you can not resize the “backup capsule” to accomodate a larger backup.

I suppose the price of $29.95 is a relatively fair price, however, I  personally would not pay it.  I would be willing to pay $19.95.

    Thanks Ashraf

  93. Farrukh

Waooo, Fantastic offers today :) . I actually need some good backup and restore software.
Please add me to the draw. Here are the answers:

A: Almost every kind of data including  source code, articles, downloaded programs etc etc.

A: Intuitive user interface, should be improved to give user a Detailed Mode as well, for  more information and customization with instructions and tool tips.

Q: Do you think $29.95 is a fair price for Paragon System Backup? If not, please state the price you would be willing to pay.

A: Well, I’m not good at these kinds of calculations, but according to the value of software this is not a bad price.

Hoping to Win this time :)
Thanks a lot for such great offers.

What types of files do you primarily need to backup? (I.E. Backing up personal files, work files, school files, documents, programs, etc.) I will be backing up the files from my personal computer but the files will be work files, personal files and school files including documents, music, some videos, and programs.
What is your favorite feature of Paragon System Backup? Probably my favorite feature is that I can migrate my system if I need to, I also like the ability to use a Win PE boot disk.
What do you dislike about Paragon System Backup or what can be improved in Paragon System Backup? If they do not have it already they should include a feature that will verify the integrity of the backup.
Do you think $29.95 is a fair price for Paragon System Backup? If not, please state the price you would be willing to pay. I do not generally buy software unless I have to and what I need doesn’t come with the computer or I can’t get it for free, but this software looks quite good. I would probably be willing to buy it for 24.95.

  95. amozai

Great giveaway from you. Find below are my answers:-
    1. I use to backup my personal files and system backup files.
    2. WinPE recovery media
    3. I don’t see any at the moment
    4. I like paragon programs because they do exactly what they claim to do, and if everyone knows the importance of paragon system backup then I don’t think anyone will complain because of this price.
    Thank you for sharing.

  96. ha14

Thanks for both giveaways concerning Paragon Backup & Recovery 10 Suite here are my answers
    1)Windows backup all in one
    2) ability to convert an image into a virtual hard drive
3)Faster backup for large file because  70GB of data takes about two hours and 15
4)Well if its faster then the mentioned price its okay otherwise 20USD

  97. Adrian

    Yay! Near first comment.
What types of files do you primarily need to backup? (I.E. Backing up personal files, work files, school files, documents, programs, etc.)
I like to backup my personal videos/photos that I take on my tours, and also some music that I buy.
What is your favorite feature of Paragon System Backup?
I like most the feature that it allows you to backup files on-the-fly.
What do you dislike about Paragon System Backup or what can be improved in Paragon System Backup?
I dislike the huge download file size. Most other backup software only have an around 5~10 MB download size at most, compared to sb9.5’s 87 MB.
Do you think $29.95 is a fair price Paragon System Backup? If not, please state the price you would be willing to pay.
There are many free alternatives in the market. However, System Backup has a lot more extra “bells and whistles”, so that a price of 29.95 is fair.

However, a price reduction of around $5 will attract more potential users.

    @Ashraf: I am a contributor/writer.
