Hello friends! Thanks for this chance to participate. That’s my answers:
Have you ever used a DVD ripper before (yes or no)? If yes, which DVD ripper? Yes. I have used the WinX DVD Ripper. It’s a good program too, but some DVDs can’t be ripped for it.
Have you ever used a video converter before (yes or no)? If yes, which video converter? Yes. Format Factory. It’s a awesome software, I’m fan of it. But, I believe that’s always good to have another option.
What do you think of the price of SnowFox DVD & Video Converter ($49 but dotTechies can get it for $24.50 for a limited time)? Is it a fair price? Would you be willing to pay that much if you were in the market looking for such a software? As I’m in Brazil, our prices are little different from yours. I believe that US$ 24,50 (that is almost R$ 50,00, our local money) it’s a fair price, but in my country theres too much piracy. But there are some people that only uses free ou original softwares (included me), and for those the clean conscience worth more than some $$$.
Just by looking at the features list, are there are any features that you would like to be added to SnowFox DVD & Video Converter? If yes, please elaborate. Yes. As a sugestion, this program could have the cropping option, and the possibility to including titles. It will be helpfull to identificate the ripped videos.
That’s it. Sorry for my bad english. Have a good week! Evandro.
Have you ever used a DVD ripper before (yes or no)? If yes, which DVD ripper? No, never.
Have you ever used a video converter before (yes or no)? If yes, which video converter?
Yes,format factory.
What do you think of the price of SnowFox DVD & Video Converter ($49 but dotTechies can get it for $24.50 for a limited time)? Is it a fair price? Would you be willing to pay that much if you were in the market looking for such a software?
I would probably pay the $49 if the software is good.
Just by looking at the features list, are there are any features that you would like to be added to SnowFox DVD & Video Converter? If yes, please elaborate.
A portable version.
Have you ever used a DVD ripper before (yes or no)? If yes, which DVD ripper? Yes, WinX DVD Ripper Platinum.
Have you ever used a video converter before (yes or no)? If yes, which video converter? Yes, AVS Video Converter.
What do you think of the price of SnowFox DVD & Video Converter ($49 but dotTechies can get it for $24.50 for a limited time)? Is it a fair price? Would you be willing to pay that much if you were in the market looking for such a software? $24.50 is ok and up to $30 too, but $49 is too high.
Just by looking at the features list, are there are any features that you would like to be added to SnowFox DVD & Video Converter? If yes, please elaborate. Yes, a crop function would be great but not necessary.
Have you ever used a DVD ripper before (yes or no)? If yes, which DVD ripper?
Yes. I have used a lot actually. The ones I have used are Wondershare DVD Ripper Platinum, WinX DVD Ripper Platinum (and standard), Lekusoft Blu-Ray Ripper, Lekusoft DVD Ripper, and Sog DVD Ripper Platinum.
Have you ever used a video converter before (yes or no)? If yes, which video converter?
Yes. I have used even more of these than DVD Rippers. The video converters that I have used are Videora iPod Converter, Videora PSP Converter, Format Factory, WinFF (gui for ffmpeg), Sothink HD Video Converter, Xilisoft HD Video Converter 6, Snowfox Total Video Converter, Socusoft Video Converter, PSPVC, WinX Cell Phone Video Converter, WinX HD Video Converter (standard and deluxe), Daniusoft Video Converter, and WinX Video Converter Platinum (trial version). There are definitely more but I uninstalled a lot of them and forgot about them.
What do you think of the price of SnowFox DVD & Video Converter? Is it a fair price? Would you be willing to pay that much if you were in the market looking for such a software?
I think the $50 price tag is very good. There are definitely other rippers and converters (packaged together) that are much more expensive. This price is better than fair in my opinion. The exclusive dotTech price is just unbelievable! If I was looking for this software (which I am all of the time – I’m like a collector :D), I would pay that much.
Just by looking at the features list, are there are any features that you would like to be added to SnowFox DVD & Video Converter? If yes, please elaborate.
Yes there are a few. First it needs to have the ability to crop video. I do a lot of cropping but I have never found a program that can crop and have a significant enough speed. Speaking of speed, multi-core use would be another good feature. That would be a lot faster conversion time. Finally a few suggestions about video quality and size. A feature that I have always enjoyed in Xilisoft HD Video Converter 6 is their built-in bit-rate calculator. A feature like that would be useful in this program. The next suggestion is more like a question. Can the video bit rate and audio bit rates be customized through a text box? Or is it like a dropdown box with default values? As a *professional* (I’ve used a lot of converters) user, I would like the ability to type in my own bit rate in instead of using the usual defaults of 256, 384, 512, 640, etc. Finally, one last question/suggestion, can you type in your own values for the size parameters? There is usually a few default choices that never seem to fit me. I would like to type in, say 480×272 (for my psp :D), but most of the default are like 320×240 or other not so useful values. Out of these suggestions, the one most useful would be the crop function. Not many converters have this and would be struggling to keep up.
Have you ever used a DVD ripper before (yes or no)? If yes, which DVD ripper?
Yes, many… Sog DVD Ripper, Format Factory and WinX DVD Ripper, also Danusoft DVD Audio Ripper to name a few.
Have you ever used a video converter before (yes or no)? If yes, which video converter?
Yes, 123 DVD Converter, Format factory and SnowFox (and probably others that I can’t remember…nothing that stood out)
What do you think of the price of SnowFox DVD & Video Converter ($49 but dotTechies can get it for $24.50 for a limited time)? Is it a fair price? Would you be willing to pay that much if you were in the market looking for such a software?
$24.50 is a lot easier to take than $49. If I WERE looking to buy, that would entice me.
Just by looking at the features list, are there are any features that you would like to be added to SnowFox DVD & Video Converter? If yes, please elaborate.
Looks like it does everything I could possible want, and I could eliminate having a DVD Audio Ripper, which is a plus.
Thanks Ashraf….I always watch for your reviews…I know if you recommend it, it’s a good product!
1 – Yes, I have used WinX DVD ripper (given away by dotTech!). Now managed to get it to work smoothly.
2 – Well, right now I´m using SnowFox video converter(given away by dotTech too!) really good soft. and Format Factory.
3 – For me, it´s expensive (not a wealthy man)
4 – I think that converting to rmvb would be nice!
Thanks for the opportunity Ashraf, hope to get it!
Aguante!
1- No.
2- Yes,i ised Format Factory.
3-For me,this price is ok.
4-No…
Thanks for giveaway…
1. Have you ever used a DVD ripper before (yes or no)? If yes, which DVD ripper?
Daniusoft & Pavtube & Cucusoft and 10 others
2. Have you ever used a video converter before (yes or no)? If yes, which video converter?
Yes, Divx Pro, Daniusoft Video Converter Ultimate & Cucusoft
3. What do you think of the price of SnowFox DVD & Video Converter ($49 but dotTechies can get it for $24.50 for a limited time)? Is it a fair price? Would you be willing to pay that much if you were in the market looking for such a software?
My decision would depend on the output quality with other add on features. $24.5 seems to be a fair price but my purchases of Daniusoft, Cucusoft & Pavtube rippers/ converters have been at much lower prices. Least purchase price at about $10
4. Just by looking at the features list, are there are any features that you would like to be added to SnowFox DVD & Video Converter? If yes, please elaborate.
a. Add merge function
b. Add FOURCC function to adapt output file to be playable on a particular device/decoder
c. Add a CFR or Quantiser based setting in addition to bit rate
d. Add a slider with pre set encoder setting for fast (low quality) to slow (high quality) encoding.
e. Add multi thread ripping/CUDA support on NVIDIA
f. Add A/V sync function
g. Multi pass option
h. Target file size option for automatic bit rate/quantiser setting
i. Add a play back of a short clip from ripped/converted before commencing the whole file ripping/conversion
j. De interlace function
k.Support for using external encoders
l. Skin color/ theme options for the graphic interface
1. Have you ever used a DVD ripper before (yes or no)? If yes, which DVD ripper?
Yes I have. Like almost everyone else here, I have used WinX DVD Ripper. It is a nice software, but since there is no free updates, I would not be able to rip DVDs after a year because of the changing protection methods.
2. Have you ever used a video converter before (yes or no)? If yes, which video converter?
Yes, I have used Streaming Video Recorder by Apowersoft, Snowfox, and a few others I can’t remember.
3. What do you think of the price of SnowFox DVD & Video Converter ($49 but dotTechies can get it for $24.50 for a limited time)? Is it a fair price? Would you be willing to pay that much if you were in the market looking for such a software?
25 dollars isn’t really a lot for this software, especially since it has a DVD ripper included as a feature. So it is like a two-in-one software for the price of one. I would buy it if I really need it.
4. Just by looking at the features list, are there are any features that you would like to be added to SnowFox DVD & Video Converter? If yes, please elaborate.
I can’t find any new features which are not already included within the program. If I had to choose something, a basic movie editing feature would be a nice bonus.
Thanks for the wonderful opportunity you are giving all of us for this wonderful software.
1. Have you ever used a DVD ripper before (yes or no)? If yes, which DVD ripper?
Yes, I currently used WinX DVD Ripper
2. Have you ever used a video converter before (yes or no)? If yes, which video converter?
Yes, I currently used Xmedia Recode
3. What do you think of the price of SnowFox DVD & Video Converter ($49 but dotTechies can get it for $24.50 for a limited time)? Is it a fair price? Would you be willing to pay that much if you were in the market looking for such a software?
I think its a fair price for a two program joining into one.
4. Just by looking at the features list, are there are any features that you would like to be added to SnowFox DVD & Video Converter? If yes, please elaborate.
By looking at it, I must say that this is a complete feature rich for all your video task need. I like to see a stealth portable (it does not leave behind any entries in the registry or filesystem) of this program if its possible.
Have you ever used a DVD ripper before (yes or no)? If yes, which DVD ripper? – Yes, numerous. Most with re-encoding capability. Nero Recode predominately. Also CloneDVD, DVD Decryptor, and some of the ‘older’ more manual methods ala vStrip and VirtualDub
Have you ever used a video converter before (yes or no)? If yes, which video converter? Yes. Again, Nero Recode predominately but have used others such as Xilosoft and Aneesoft-Free.
What do you think of the price of SnowFox DVD & Video Converter ($49 but dotTechies can get it for $24.50 for a limited time)? Is it a fair price? Would you be willing to pay that much if you were in the market looking for such a software? $49 is too much, even with built in css removal. I feel 30 would be a good retail and the 24.50 is a great deal for those that frequent dottech.
Just by looking at the features list, are there are any features that you would like to be added to SnowFox DVD & Video Converter? If yes, please elaborate. Yes. BD support and x64native. For Audio rip/export. ogg, flac. Format output profile: add Sandisk Sansa

Just by looking at the features list, are there are any features that you would like to be added to SnowFox DVD & Video Converter? If yes, please elaborate.
No.

No. I have not tried a DVD ripper yet.

3.What do you think of the price of SnowFox DVD & Video Converter ($49 but dotTechies can get it for $24.50 for a limited time)? Is it a fair price? Would you be willing to pay that much if you were in the market looking for such a software?
The price seems a little high, but I am unfamiliar with this product.
4.Just by looking at the features list, are there are any features that you would like to be added to SnowFox DVD & Video Converter? If yes, please elaborate.
No. Again, I am not familiar enough with this product to tell. Thank you for the offer.
Have you ever used a DVD ripper before (yes or no)? If yes, which DVD ripper? No, I haven’t.Have you ever used a video converter before (yes or no)? If yes, which video converter?Yes, Super. Was not crazy about it.What do you think of the price of SnowFox DVD & Video Converter ($49 but dotTechies can get it for $24.50 for a limited time)? Is it a fair price? Would you be willing to pay that much if you were in the market looking for such a software?Personally, I think the price is excessive. In line with many of its competitors, but not a realistic price in this day-and-age where there is so much freeware (or free promotions, if you’re paying timely attention). No, I would not pay $24.50 for it.Just by looking at the features list, are there are any features that you would like to be added to SnowFox DVD & Video Converter? If yes, please elaborate.I don’t see any missing features immediately, no.
1.Yes I have. I used WinX DVD Ripper.
2.No, I have not used a video converter before, though I would love to try one.
3.I think it is a little expensive since there are free ones out there, but since this converter has multiple choices I’d say 14.99 is a fair price. I would be willing to pay $24.50 though.
4.The features are pretty much all I need.
I am a donor. (ng.angus@hotmail.com)
1.. Yes I’ve used Wondershare DVD Ripper Platinum.
2..Yes I’ve used Wondershre Video Converter
3..I think $49 would be a fair price for a ripper/converter, but at this time I can’t even afford the discounted price, let alone the full price. I would definantly pay $49 for it, if I had it to spend.
4..As of right now it seems to have a pretty robust list of features and I can’t think of anything that it don’t have that I’d need.

@Casey:
This is Jodie from SnowFox Software. I hope that i could solve your doubts.
Yes, with SnowFox DVD & Video Converter, you could customize the video bitrate and audio bitrate through a dropdown box with default values, not through a text box. But you could choose the size parameter as 480×272 (for your psp), our SnowFox DVD & Video Converter offers many different video resolution including 480×272.

Not a bad price, lot of alternative software titles out there though.
Just by looking at the features list, are there are any features that you would like to be added to SnowFox DVD & Video Converter? If yes, please elaborate.
It appears to have a lot of nice features. One I didn’t see would be to convert from a blueray/HD format to standard DVD, or a feature such as DVD Shrink.
Thanks a lot Ashraf. Please count me in.
