How to have a 3D Dock on OS X Yosemite [Tip]

cDockI’ve showed you many tutorials today which are helpful but none are really all that fun, so it’s time to spice things up a bit with learning how to have a 3D dock on OS X Yosemite. The 3D dock has long been a tradition in Apple OS X operating systems, but in an attempt to make a design advancements, the fruit company developers did away with the dock for Yosemite. Whenever a key design element in changed, there’s always going to be some people who don’t like it. Critically, with some tweaking we are able to usually get what we desire back. That’s the case yet again here with the 3D dock in OS X Yosemite. I’ll show you how to get that done after the jump.

REQUIREMENTS

  • You must be a “right dock user” for this OS tweak. Left dock users will not be able to get the 3D effect back.

HOW TO GET BACK THE 3D DOCK IN OS X YOSEMITE

1. Download the cDock here.

2. Download the aforementioned file directly to your Mac.

3. Select the “Yose Light (3D)” theme from the Dock theme menu list — you’ll need to look toward the bottom of the list.

4. Choose to apple the theme.
