Now dotTech is again teaming up with Digiarty Software to bring everyone WinX DVD Ripper Platinum for free. This time around, however, we are featuring the program for Windows and Mac and we are providing the latest v6, a recent update to the program that brought quite a few changes. For those that don’t know about WinX DVD Ripper Platinum (have you been living in a cave?!), WinX DVD Ripper Platinum is a DVD-to-all ripper that allows you to easily rip/backup DVDs to multiple different video formats, including a 1:1 copy so you can store your backups in DVD quality. For those that have a previous version of WinX DVD Ripper Platinum, here are the major changes in v6, as per the developer:
- Output MP4 video with AAC 2 Channels, AAC 4 Channels and AAC 6 Channels supported.
- Support AVI container, keeping original DVD AC3/DTS 6 Channels audio track.
- Output WMV and MPEG video with original DVD AC3/DTS 6 Channels audio track.
- Improved WMV encoder to fit the requirement of Windows Media Center. Backup DVD to WMV with AC3/DTS audio and stream to PS3 & Xbox 360.
- Significantly increase H.264 encoder speed. Better support for Multi-core CPU.
- Optimized the support for iPhone 4, iPad, iPod 4 and other iOS 4 video players.
- New software UI.
I don’t know if it is required or not to uninstall previous versions of WinX DVD Ripper Platinum before installing this latest version, but I highly suggest you uninstall previous versions anyway (to avoid any potential problems).
Before I provide the details on how to get WinX DVD Ripper Platinum for free, I would like to explain the scope of this promotion. First of all, this promotion is live for 72-hours only – from November 26, 2010 to November 28, 2010. Secondly, you must activate the program by November 30, 2010; if you don’t activate by November 30, 2010 you may not be able to activate at a later date. Lastly, there are no official free updates with this promotion. However, Digiarty Software has offered to provide three lifetime licenses (which include free updates) for free to the three people who provide the best feedback in the comments below.

I have been using a competitors software for the past three years for all my copying needs. I tried WinX DVD Ripper Platinum and think it is great. I will be using this software from now on. @a simple happy man, @AlanR, @Mario, @Denis F : I don’t know if having a new version installed with an old code will cause any problem in the future.- I’ve uninstalled my old version using Revo Uninstaller.- Then I’ve RESTARTED my PC.- Then I’ve installed the new version.- When finished, it asked me for the code.- Now, I have a new version with a new code installed.

I just found this and downloaded / installed it and it registered just fine for me.
The interface is a little busy with tabs, I will agree. But for some less experienced users (and me, when I’ve not had enough sleep) it’s sometimes easier to have a tab for each permutation of conversion. It would be nice for the “active” tab to be highlighted a little more, but I can see which one it is (and my screen doesn’t look at all pink – sorry Harold!).
I love that it has a preset tab for converting to Zen. I’ve had no luck finding anything with a preset for that and I love my little Zen.
One thing that would be nice in a future version would be the ability to set in “Options” to NOT show some of the tabs. Turn them off, so to speak. I don’t have an iPod/iPhone/iPad/iTV/iCan Opener a PSP or a Zune and I’ll probably never want to make a DVD into FLV or MOV (someone might, just not me) – so I could get rid of half the tabs right there and streamline the interface right off. Many people wouldn’t want some subset of the tabs like my delightful little Zen tab, so they could make their own customizations. Just a thought…

Thanks for the freebie, Ashraf. I do have a problem though, and am hoping a someone can help. I installed this offer, and I don’t know if this is related or not, but found my DVD burner is no longer working. It’s not listed as a drive in My Computer, and I can’t even get the eject button to respond. Maybe this is just a coincidence? I’m running XP sp3.

Good news! I found the issue, and it had nothing to do with WinX DVD Ripper Platinum. Instead, the Molex connector had popped out on its own! (oops!)
