How to root Samsung Galaxy Grand 2 LTE SM-G7105L on Android 4.4.2 [Guide]

Samsung-Galaxy-Grand-2These are the instructions to root Samsung Galaxy Grand 2 LTE smartphones with the model number SM-G7105L running on Android 4.4.2 Kitkat software updates.

REQUIREMENTS

  • You must have the Samsung Galaxy Grand 2 LTE with the model number SM-G7105L to use this guide. Any other model number will get bricked if you use the same CF-Auto-Root file featured in this guide. You can find out what your Samsung Galaxy Grand 2’s model number is by tapping on the Menu > Settings > About Device > Model Number.
  • The CF-Auto-Root one-click rooting package found in this guide for the Samsung Galaxy Grand 2 smartphone is based on the KOT49H.G7105LUBUBNJ5 firmware which is part of an Android 4.4.2 Kitkat software update that rolled out to some regions. It does not mean you need to be running that same software update on your Samsung Galaxy Grand 2 LTE smartphone. You just need to use it as an indicator, since some of the Samsung devices will not boot old images.

BEFORE WE BEGIN

  • Download the Samsung USB Drivers for your Samsung Galaxy Grand 2 LTE smartphone and install them on the Windows computer you plan on using during this guide. The drivers must be up to date for the Odin flashing tool to recognize your device when it is running.
  • You may need to unlock the Developer Options menu on the Samsung Galaxy Grand 2 smartphone by tapping on the Menu > Settings > About Device > Build Number 7 times.
  • You should enter the Developer Options on your Galaxy Grand 2 and enable the USb Debugging Mode by tapping on the Menu > Settings > Developer Options > USB Debugging Mode.

Sometimes new software updates can bring in new bootloader which prevent the kernels from booting. If your device fails to boot it is likely due to that problem. You can report the problem to Chainfire from the official CF-Auto-Root thread over at XDA Developers.
