Everyone has heard of TuneUp Utilities, there is no need to introduce it. All I want to say is that everyone can get TuneUp Utilities 2010 (TuneUp Utilities 2011 costs $49.95, or $24.95 if you install it then uninstall it while it is in trial) for free!

I looked at this promotion and it may or may not be a paid-magazine specific freebie. Obviously it is being run by ComputerShopper (http://computershopper.com/) and TuneUp Utilities, but I cannot tell if it is a paid-magazine specific freebie or not. Typically I wouldn’t allow these types of freebies (dotTech has as strict policy of “if in doubt, don’t post it”). However, I have talked with a few developers and it seems that some developers don’t care if freebies are leaked because the freebies serve as free advertisement for them (in this case free advertisement for TuneUp Utilities 2011). Now I haven’t talked to the developer of TuneUp Utilities about this, so if they contact me and ask me to pull this freebie I will, but for now it feels kind of refreshing to walk the fine line. Bad boy Ashraf is in town. Enjoy this while it lasts.

This might be a problem at my end, but when I click the link for the promotion/registration page I get the following error:

Hmmm just noticed that the title of the tab (in Chrome) says “TuneUp Deutschland” – could it be that the site is filtering based on IP, and restricting access to the promo page to those whose IP is registered in the promo country? (which is…?)
@japp and @John C: Thank you for catching my mistake. Link has been fixed now… poor editing skills, Ashraf.
@Catman: I fixed the link. Sorry about that.
Many thanks, Ashraf!!
Many thanks, Ashraf!!
AOA Ashraf.

@Ashraf: Many thanks, Ashraf
Downloaded, installed and up-dated to the latest version with reg code I was given…Thank you Ashraf and all the fellow DotTechies!!
@Catman: Update…Latest version that you are directed to for download, does not accept your previous versions licence key, says it’s for an older version.
@Catman: This won’t work with TuneUp Utilities 2011.

Using Win 7 Ultimate 64 bit and IE* and Firefox I keep being told to enable javascript and allow cookies. This is an error on the web site not on my PC. Can you check this out please.

Hi Ashraf,
by any chance do you know how to TURN OFF automatic start up of TUNEUP Utilities with windows? I want it to be an on demand utility. ( sorry for double posting. Previous note was incorrect)
tks
mario
@Mario: Not wishing to be sniffy about this Mario, but if you’re not sure how to stop a program from auto-starting, you may be at risk of exceeding your computer experience / expertise by entrusting your laptop or PC to *any* so-called optimisation suite — and especially, one which includes a registry cleaner. Anyway. To solve your immediate problem: of all the countless startup managers out there, I still find the freeware WinPatrol the best. Just DL it and go to the startup tab, then disable WinUtilities (though ironically, a utilities suite which *doesn’t* have a start-up manager of its own isn’t worth bothering with anyway, i.e.: you should be able to use WinUtilities to stop WinUtilities from auto-starting.) There are rare cases where apps have been said to auto-start even after being disabled — well, at least according to Internet posters — though that’s never happened to me. If it did, I’d uninstall the app pronto: it’s *my* computer, not the property of some software developer or other.
Nice offer (and works fine for me)–thanks!
Hi Ashraf,
Your “Download link” is currently for the GB (Great Britain) version. I don’t know if that version is different from the US version… :-)
A direct download link for the US version is:
http://download.tune-up.com/TUU2010/TU2010TrialEN-US.exe
Or people can use one of these non-direct methods:
http://www.tune-up.com/download/archive/tuu2010/
http://www.tune-up.com/download/getfile.php?file=tuu2010trial
And of course, Ashraf fans don’t forget to go to the “Promotion/registration page” to get your activation link and then product key.
Thanks, Ashraf!
David
Welcome back Ashraf Thanks for great offter I posted link on my facebook page for my family if they want download it :). This ofter works USA and Uk so far :) I got my key code. If you guys having trouble used gmail email works well with this promo :). Ashraf Welcome back bud :).
David I just try the US version tuneup key code won’t work. You have used GB tuneup 2010 make the key work once you get in your email.
@MikeR,
thank you for your suggestions. I have WinPatrol payed version, AnVir and maybe 2 or other ones that could accomplish this “TASK”, not mentioning MsConfig, but that was not what I was expecting from a win utilities utility! Previous versions all had a “don’t run at windows startup” option in their settings. It seems this one doesn’t.
Just a short note : I started working with PC when they were not called PC’s yet – it was an Apple II Plus, circa 1979, so I know one or two things about computers.
thanks
mario
