Free East-Tec Eraser 2011! [24-hours]

Software Description

The following is a description of East-Tec Eraser 2011, as per how Ashraf has described it in the past:

[…]East-Tec Eraser is a program that allows you to securely delete files, data and user activity from your computer. You see usually when you delete something on your computer, it is not truly “deleted” in the sense that there are ways for the data to be retrieved. East-Tec Eraser allows you to delete files/data/user activity using secure erasing methods that make it near impossible for others to retrieve what you deleted.

The best way I would describe East-Tec Eraser is CCleaner + Heidi’s Eraser into one program. With East-Tec Eraser not only can you securely delete individual files and folders but you can also protect your privacy by securely deleting your Windows (applications/programs, email, P2P, etc.) data and Internet (almost all browsers are supported – including Chrome and Opera) activity. To help you with the former task, East-Tec Eraser has an easy to use interface where you can add multiple files and folders at once to delete; you also have the ability to add entries in your right click context menu. To help you with the later task, East-Tec Eraser has a built in application detector that will detect all the possible applications that it can erase the activity history from automatically; if East-Tec Eraser does not find a particular application that you use, you have the ability to add custom programs (by designating files, folders or registry entries) to delete the history from.

East-Tec Eraser boasts the ability to erase anything using methods from a normal erase to a Gutmann wipe (35 pass) and everything in between, including methods that match and surpass US Department of Defense 5220.22-M standards. Heck if you don’t like any pre-configured secure erasing methods you have the ability to create/define your own also (if you custom created method to securely erase files/data becomes popular and you become rich and famous, I expect royalties).

Additionally, you can use East-Tec to securely erase files/data/user activity that you previously deleted or use the built in disk wiper to securely wipe any hard drives (internal or external – including USB/flash drives) or select partitions.[…]

dotTech Advice

I’ve been a fan of East-Tec Eraser since I used East-Tec Eraser 2008. Personally speaking, I think it is a great program that allows users to easily and quickly securely delete files and securely wipe empty space and/or hard drives/partitions. Highly recommended.

It should be noted, however, I’m not too sure how often EAST Technologies is updating East-Tec Eraser. I mean they are releasing “new” versions, 2010, 2011, 2012, etc. each year but the actual program doesn’t appear to be much different than previous versions aside from a slight change in interface. If there are any changes from version to version, they are only minor changes.

So, what is the difference of version 2010 and 2011? Better improvement?
I used East- Tec 2010 quite a while ago, but it couldn’t detect my installed Firefox for cleaning. Simple but important.

I had same problem of asking for Serial a few times. Then program said “East-Tec Eraser 2011 free
givaway expired”. Had it on my computer one week and uninstalled it. Good riddance. I don’t know
about other people, but I don’t have the time to waste on Software like this. I put these Companies in
    the ROUND FILE.

(Also, upon downloading,I WAS sent to an instruction page….Irregardless, even though I DID close Risk Monitor by using the X in upper right corner, (I was not afforded an option to close/exit in right-click context menu)- that did NOT do the trick…. BUT… the closing Risk Monitor thru Processes in Task Manager method, though improvised,WORKED ) !!!!!

*To Register: Start task manager(CTRL+ALT+DEL) shut down “Risk Monitor -East-Tec ” in processes,THEN.and only then, enter Name and Serial EXACTLY (copy and paste) as you supplied East-Tec with…. I tried to Register this stubborn thing 10 times….I finally figured this out after Ashraf’s post about closing down Said “Risk Monitor”,got it on the 11th try- Thanks,AGAIN,Ashraf !! You Da Man,AGAIN !!!!!

For those with registration key problems, I have not install this version yet but as I recall, to “properly” register without the software repeated asking you to enter registration key is to do the following steps:

    1. Close Risk Monitor and Scheduler, if they are open (they are located in system tray, near the system clock). Close them by right clicking their icons (Risk Monitor has a blue or red triangle icon and Scheduler has a calendar icon) and selecting Close or Exit.

    2. Then open only East-Tec Eraser (make sure Risk Monitor and Scheduler are closed) and re-enter your key from Help menu > Enter Key (we recommend you to use copy and paste to avoid typing errors). Done!

You should never get those annoying registration key requests again once you follow the steps above. These are standard registration process for East-Tech Eraser software. Not sure why that instruction is not included in your installation package. Hope that resolves people’s frustrations with the registration. I’ve been using the version 2010 and not sure if there is any new changes with 2011 to warrant me for an upgrade. Hmmm.

@Anyone having issues registering: Make sure u close the “risk monitor” from the system tray before registering. If you dont close it then the program will not properly register.

My experience is the same as OldMalden. This is also the same as the 2010 giveaway. It seems like there is a problem with the installer or the key. i will uninstall and move on. Thank you for the info on this offer. Keep up your great work.

@OldMalden: After I… RE-ENTERED the KEY… for the ????th time….. I went to the “Help” button at the top of the GUI.
I then selected “Enter Key” and ENTERED it…… AGAIN….. This seems to have fixed it…. at least for me.
I hope that this works for everyone else too!

    HELP!!!

Every time I open the program,…. it wants me to enter the registration key!
Again,…. and again,…. and again…… (It accepted it to first two times… and I thought everything was good…)
How do I get it to STOP making me keep RE-REGISTER every time I try to open the program???

    Thanks Ashraf!!

All goes well and the license key is accepted. Checking “Help -> About” it says “Upgrade Subscription expires on 11/18/2011″; Risk Monitor says “Your subscription expired”

I tried uninstalling and re-installing – but still get the same message.

Ah Well …. Did I miss a step?

Update: Is this just saying I’ll have to pay £12 to get to 2012 version? If so, then I’m OK for the moment!
