About iOS Apps of the Day

iOS has over 600,000 apps. With so many apps out there, app discovery (aka finding new and useful apps) is extremely difficult. With our iOS Apps of the Day initiative, dotTech aims to change that. Everyday we post three apps, allowing our readers to discover new apps, daily. Enjoy! [Subscribe to our iOS section to never miss an article: RSS Feed | E-mail]

Apps for April 30, 2012

Maven Web Browser+ With Innovative Jogdial, Trackpad and Download Manager

Maven Web Browser+ With Innovative Jogdial, Trackpad and Download Manager is a mobile web browser that is unlike any other. This app has an Innovative Bookmark Jog-Dial which is a spinner that you can select the page you want quickly without accessing your bookmarks as you would normally do. By default this app will have you use a magical track-pad to scroll up and down on the web page, but if you don’t want to use this you can easily turn it off with a touch of the icon. You can save passwords just like you do in Firefox, and you also can select an unlimited number of tabs to open. The tabs also have a preview screen in the tab so you know what it looks like without guessing what it there. There is another jog-dial that can adjust your screen brightness in the event you want the app look brighter or dimmer.

You can even make this a private browser with a single touch so that your download history won’t be saved and clutter up your device’s precious space. There is a download manager that can download files and images and even preview the downloaded files which can be transferred over to a PC or a Mac. This also supports gestures to have you switch between two tabs using two fingers, and gestures are completely customizable. The iPhone can handle two or three finger gestures, and the iPad can handle up to four fingers. If you have this app on your iPad, you can use the dual screen support to maximize your mobile web surfing. You can even lock this app or a tab when it has private information. This app also supports Facebook, Twitter and Instapaper, and it also has Reader capabilities. You can even import your bookmarks from either Firefox or Safari only.

There is an in-app purchase of $1.99 which will allow the browser to block ads if you have a need for something like that.
