About Android Apps of the Day

Android has over 450,000 apps. With so many apps out there, app discovery (aka finding new and useful apps) is extremely difficult. With our Android Apps of the Day initiative, dotTech aims to change that. Everyday we post three apps, allowing our readers to discover new apps, daily. Enjoy! Steam Flash Sales Notifier

Are you a fervent PC gamer? You probably use Steam, the awesome gaming distribution platform by Valve. You’re probably also used to their sales policies: you snooze, you lose. With Steam Flash Sales Notifier, you’ll never miss a sale again.

Steam Flash Sales Notifier is an app that’s constantly running in the background checking for Steam sales. If one is found, it’ll notify you with a simple notification: you can choose to have multiple sales cause multiple notifications, or simply stack into one. You can also easily temporarily enable/disable Steam Flash Sales Notifier.

If you’re a PC gamer looking forward to Steam sales this summer, Steam Flash Sales Notifier is the app for you. It’ll warn you when a sale has arrived, allowing you to get to Steam to buy games as quickly as possible!

Icy Time

Yesterday we looked at Timer, a beautiful Holo-themed timer application. It wasn’t free, however, and many people don’t like to spend money on applications, especially when there are applications that function just as well for free. Icy Time is one of those applications: it’s a free Holo-themed timer app, and it’s perhaps even nicer looking.

Icy Time doesn’t use any kind of ring like Timer did. Instead, it uses good old counters, as you can see in the screenshot to the right. It also has a stopwatch feature, including laps, so it’s good for more than just counting down.

If you’re looking for a good, beautiful, and free timer and stopwatch, Icy Time is the app for you.

Holo Locker

Are you jealous of all of those people who own the Galaxy Nexus, Nexus 7, or Nexus S, and their awesome Jelly Bean operating system? Don’t be! With Holo Locker you can pretend to have Jelly Bean too.

Holo Locker is quite easy to use. Once you download it, it’s running, and whenever you unlock your device, it’ll be there instead of your regular lockscreen. It looks quite nice too: it takes your standard wallpaper (live or static) and puts it behind the Jelly Bean-themed lock button, and allows you quick access to the camera too. It’s quite beautiful, especially if you’re a Jelly Bean fan.

All in all, Holo Locker is nice, and integrates well into your current system. If you’re rocking an Ice Cream Sandwich or Jelly Bean theme, all the better: you’ll barely be able to tell the difference. (Apart from Project Butter.)
