Android has over 450,000 apps. With so many apps out there, app discovery (aka finding new and useful apps) is extremely difficult. With our Android Apps of the Day initiative, dotTech aims to change that. Everyday we post three apps, allowing our readers to discover new apps, daily. Enjoy! Humanity has fallen, and the robots have taken over the planet. You alone can take back the world by battling powerful computer nodes. It’s your computers and robots against those of the enemy, and it’s fair game. Are you ready to handle the task?
Robotek is a great little game. For a while, it was the only good game I had on my Touchpad, and it’s absolutely awesome that it’s available on Android as well. It’s a great game, and though there are in-app upgrades available, the game is entirely beatable without them. You spin the wheels to see which attacks you’ll get to use, and with luck and some skill you’ll be blasting your enemy in no time.
If you’re a fan of virtually endless yet still awesome games, Robotek is for you. It’s not too fast-paced, and it’s definitely a lot more relaxing than many games despite its apocalyptic setting. If you’re interested in getting a great game, try Robotek today.
Price: Free with in-app upgrades

Looking for a challenging puzzle game? BlockShift may be the answer to your calls. Heavily inspired by Nintendo’s Pushmo for 3DS (one might even call it a ripoff), this game lets you spend a very long time navigating complicated puzzles. Don’t fall!
BlockShift has funky controls. Instead of having the grab button be a time-limited button, it’s a toggle. This can cause some confusion, but I imagine that after a while it’d get easier to use. The game itself is pretty fun; while it won’t blow you away, it definitely falls into the time waster category.
All in all, BlockShift is neither revolutionary nor the most amazing game in the world. If you’re looking to burn some time and are willing to put up with knock-offs with half-baked controls, though, BlockShift is a nice enough game.

There are some amazing technologies around today. Wireless power and wireless internet both come to mind. With both of these, it’s kind of a wonder why we still have speakers with wires as the norm. With rSpeakers, you can stream your computer’s audio to your phone over WiFi, giving you house-wide wireless speakers.
rSpeakers is fairly simple to set up. After setting up the cross-platform server , just type in your local IP address and hit connect. You’ll get a choice of audio rates, and whether you want stereo or mono sound. Personally, I recommend the highest rate possible with stereo audio, but if you find the connection too laggy, you can just downgrade to a lower rate. Upgrading to the Pro version removes ads and lets you choose from two higher sample rates.
Overall, rSpeakers is a very nice program, and is quite promising. If you like to stream music, it’s a must-have. You can have free Spotify on your phone!
Price: Free with ads/upgrade available
Requires: Android 2.3+

dotTechies: We have tested all the apps listed above. However, Android Apps of the Day articles are not intended as “reviews” but rather as “heads-up” to help you discover new apps. Always use your best judgement when downloading apps, such as trying trial/free versions before purchasing paid apps, if applicable.
