Upgrade to Windows 8 for $14.99 if you bought (or will buy) a Windows 7 PC on or after July 2

Are you holding back on purchasing a new Windows 7 machine because you want to wait until Windows 8 hits stores? If you have US$14.99 to spare, you don’t have to wait. Microsoft is offering an upgrade to Windows 8 Pro for $14.99 to those people who have purchased or will purchase a Windows 7 PC on or after July 2, 2012.

Taking advantage of this offer is fairly straightforward. You first obviously need to purchase a new Windows 7 PC. Once you have a new Win7 computer, visit the Windows Upgrade Offer website, select your region, and fill out a form where Microsoft asks you details about yourself and your purchase. Once Microsoft confirms you are eligible, it promises to send you an e-mail with a promo code (which is used to make the $14.99 Windows 8 Pro purchase) and directions on how to go about buying, downloading, and installing Windows 8 once Windows 8 goes on sale in October.

As already mentioned, this offer is valid for Windows 7 PCs purchased on or after July 2, 2012. In addition to that, do take note the end date — Windows 7 computers purchased after January 31, 2013 won’t be eligible for this discounted upgrade. Also, you must register with Windows Upgrade Offer by February 28, 2013 or else forfeit the discounted upgrade.
