About Android Apps of the Day

Android has over 450,000 apps. With so many apps out there, app discovery (aka finding new and useful apps) is extremely difficult. With our Android Apps of the Day initiative, dotTech aims to change that. Everyday we post three apps, allowing our readers to discover new apps, daily. Enjoy! Solo Defense

Are you tired of people? So were the developers at Petronic Arts. That’s why they designed the free game Solo Defense: now you can play Pong with just yourself! Never have you had more fun by sitting in a small room tapping away on your phone.

Solo Defense is based on the classic Pong game, but is different. Instead of simply defending your side against an enemy, you’re defending against time. How long can you remain before your timers run out? If you’ve managed to last a while, I’ve got some bad news for you: instead of defending against one paddle, soon you’ll have to defend against two. Then four! Opposite paddles are connected, so you have to keep track of where each pair is at each time.

Solo Defense is a fun little game. It’s like a never-ending game of Pong that gets harder and harder! If you’re interested in a free game that lets you pass as much time as you want, Solo Defense is a great little game that’s quite a fun little game.

Foosball Cup

Are you a master foosball fan who’s been looking for a way to bring your game to your mobile device? There’s good news for you: Foosball Cup is a sweet-looking foosball game for your phone. It’s designed to have realistic graphics, and it really shows.

While Foosball Cup has some great looking graphics, the physics engine leaves a little bit to desire. It has simultaneous turn taking while you’re against the AI, but if you’re playing in two-player hotseat mode, things get a little odd. Plus, it can be difficult to counter moves properly. However, it’s still a fun game. You can see a short video of clips from the developer:

You can see the odd physics in the video. While it’s by no means the most amazing game, its hotseat multiplayer, nice graphics, and tournament play let you play a nice game of foosball without buying a full foosball table.

Camera ICS

Are you tired of your phone’s odd-looking, plasticky, camera application? Camera ICS takes Google’s own beautiful camera app and brings it to all devices out there. You get the ability to take photos, videos, and even panoramic photos.

Camera ICS does more than just bring standard camera features to phones. You also get things like color effects and configurable volume keys, things you don’t really get in many camera apps. Camera ICS combines these with a simple and easy to use interface so often lost in other apps.

Since Camera ICS contains the beautifully designed interface Google unveiled last November, but includes many more options, it’s a great second camera app even for those who are already satisfied by their device’s app. There are tons of video and photo options, and it’s overall a great app.

Camera ICS is free with ads, or $0.99 for an ad-free Plus version. It’s available for all devices with Gingerbread and up, but certain features are restricted to Honeycomb or newer devices.

Price: Free with $0.99 Plus version

Version discovered: v1.2.1C

Requires: Various – at least 2.3+

Download size: 3.2MB
