Bring the classic mine-sweeping game back with Microsoft Minesweeper [Windows 8]

[1]Are you a fan of the classic game Minesweeper included in practically every version of Windows ever released? You might be dismayed to know that Microsoft has opted to not include any of their games with Windows 8, instead requiring you to download them from the Windows Store. With their latest release of Microsoft Minesweeper, they’ve actually changed quite a bit, and it’s worth checking out.

Minesweeper as you remember it is gone. No longer is Minesweeper a fun little game that you can play in a small window beside your real work. It’s now a large, full-screen app that is heavy on the graphical and auditory sound effects. This means it takes significantly longer to start up, and seems complicated for the sake of being complicated.

Microsoft Minesweeper is the official way to get the mathematics-oriented game on your Windows 8 computer, but it’s really not the best. If you’re really interested in playing Minesweeper on your Windows 8 computer, your best bet would probably be to simply copy the entire C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Minesweeper folder from a Windows 7 computer.
