Requirements

This guide will help you to install ClockworkMod (CWM) Recovery Touch (or just the non-touch version of CWM recovery) on your HTC One X. This guide is specifically for the GSM international version of HTC One X (Quad Core Tegra 3). Please do not try this on your AT&T, Rogers or Telstra versions (Snapdragon S4) of HTC One X.

This guide needs you to have unlocked the bootloader of your HTC One X ^[3]. Proceed at your own risk.

Before We Begin

Before starting off with the procedures to install CWM recovery on your device, make sure that you are ready with the following:

• The bootloader of your HTC One X must be unlocked ^[3] before using this guide to flash CWM recovery to your device.
• Install ADB and Fastboot ^[4] on your computer.
• Download either recovery-clockwork-touch-5.8.4.0-endeavoru.img ^[5] (CWM Recovery Touch) or recovery-clockwork-5.8.4.0-endeavoru.img ^[6] (Non-touch CWM Recovery) depending on whether you would like to have touch support for the CWM recovery on your device. Do not extract this file.
• HTC USB drivers for Windows ^[7], if you are running Windows, or the drivers for Mac or Linux if you are running those. Install the drivers if you haven’t installed them already.

How To install/flash ClockworkMod recovery (touch or non-touch) on HTC One X

To install ClockworkMod recovery on your HTC One X, follow the steps below:

• Power off your device by keeping the power button pressed for 10 seconds.
• Press and hold the ‘Volume down‘ and ‘Power‘ buttons (Volume down + Power).
• Highlight the Fastboot option from the list using the Volume up or down keys and use the Power button to select the option.
• Connect your HTC One X to your computer via USB.
• Open a command prompt in your computer (First, press Win + R to launch the Run dialog, then enter “cmd” in the dialog box).
• First, change the working directory of the command window to the directory where you had placed the CWM recovery file (recovery-clockwork-touch-5.8.4.0-endeavoru.img or recovery-clockwork-5.8.4.0-endeavoru.img) using the command “cd directorylocation” without quotes (for example, “cd c:\android“).
• Then, in the command prompt, enter:
  • fastboot flash recovery recovery-clockwork-touch-5.8.4.0-endeavoru.img
    OR
  • fastboot flash recovery recovery-clockwork-5.8.4.0-endeavoru.img
• You can unplug and reboot your phone after the process finishes.
• Congrats! You now have ClockworkMod recovery installed on your device.

To access CWM recovery on your HTC One X:

• Power off your device.
• Hold down Volume down and Power buttons (Volume down + Power) until your screen responds.
• Choose the RECOVERY option from the list to boot into CWM recovery.
