Like the classics? Miss Pong? Want Atari back? Atari Arcade may fulfill your cravings.

Atari Arcade is a new, free online joint-venture by Microsoft [2] and Atari that brings classic Atari games to your web browser — any web browser, on any operating system. Hit up Atari Arcade and you can play eight classic Atari games…

  • Missile Command
  • Pong
  • Super Breakout
  • Yars’ Revenge
  • Asteroids
  • Centipede
  • Combat
  • Lunar Lander

…right from your web browser. The best part? Atari Arcade works in any modern web browser although they recommend Internet Explorer [3] for the best experience (duh, Microsoft is the sponsoring party). Interestingly enough, Atari Arcade is “built for touch” so you can play it on a touchscreen device, tablet or smartphone; however, based on my experience of trying to play the games on my Nexus S, Atari Arcade isn’t very well optimized for a small screen. If on a touch-enabled device, you will play games use touch controls; if on a traditional computer, you will play games using your keyboard and mouse.

Take note Flash [4] is required so whether you are playing on your desktop, laptop, or mobile device you won’t get very far if you don’t have Flash installed. Hit up the link below to get started with Atari Arcade.
