Are you an iPhone user that spends a lot of time on 3G? Do you find that your battery seems to decrease quickly when using 3G? Do you have a limited data plan? If you answered yes to any of these questions, then you should take a long look at Onavo Extend. The way it works is the app actually uses algorithms to compress the roaming data you are using when on 3G. The result is the ability to elongate your data plan by as much as 5 times what you usually use.
For those who have limited data plans and use your phone on 3G a lot, this is an unbelievable savings opportunity. What’s even better is that once Onavo Extend gets enough information from your daily use, it begins to break down your data usage and shows you how much money you have saved since installing the app. Onavo Extend currently compresses all data coming from downloads like images and texts, but is currently working on doing the same for streaming media. The app will pause itself whenever you are on WiFi.
To me, there is little downside to installing an app like this. Please note that Onavo Extend will ask you to add a profile certificate to your phone. Please don’t let this scare you away as this is common with some apps. After using the app for a week, I have seen a definite difference in battery life on days when I am using my phone away from the house (on 3G). I would suggest giving it a try.

Good app but I prefer Snappli (for iPhone) better compression results and better stats
@JohnV: Thanks for the tip! I’ll keep it in mind for a future review.
Can we get a review of Snappli? I couldn’t find it in the iPhone AppStore
I read that it’s not yet available in Australian App Store so @JohnV, how can i download this app from my iPhone which uses an Australian App Store which doesn’t have this app for download without going through iTunes?
@tony: Snappli ->

I know this sounds odd, but I tried Snappli and ended up having problems getting my phone messages when it was on. The minute I removed it, a flood of messages, some over a week old, popped up on my phone. Great app, but that was enough for me to remove it.
