[Android] Light up your homescreen with shapes using the new wallpaper PartGen Live Wallpaper

Blue rectangles with trails…

Boxes are everywhere in PartGen, an all-new live wallpaper by ZnevSoft. However, it doesn’t have to be that way. It’s a free wallpaper that lets you set a collection of shapes as your wallpaper, and those shapes are customizable to your liking: get them in any color, and in a variety of shapes.

The default settings in PartGen are rather… bland. Spice them up by heading directly to the settings menu, where you’ll find an array of options that even the most picky of choosers couldn’t possibly turn down. There’s the basics, like changing the color of the particles, and then the not so basics, like changing the shadow offset. You can do a number of things with the shapes themselves, including changing color, type, number, size, speed, and more. There’s also settings to be poked around with that change how long they last, and whether they leave particle trails.

…or pink skulls without.

Personally, I enjoy a nice set of rectangles–of most any color–set on a black background, with nice long trails. After a while, when the screen is near full, it’ll really look great. Unfortunately, the boxes are quite jumpy, even on an extremely fast device such as the Nexus 7. My guess is that the wallpaper is either programmed to use as little CPU as possible, or the system is dedicating only very minimal resouces to it.

There’s tons of ways to make cool-looking wallpapers in PartGen, and even if you’re not sure what to do, even just playing around with the settings has a good chance of making something look nice. It’s a great entry into the live wallpaper market, and is one that might actually find a permanent place on my devices.
