[Android] Bouncing Marble is a physics/puzzle game involving obstacles and barriers

Are you looking for a fun physics game that makes you think of bouncing angles, speeds, and more in your head? At first glance, Bouncing Marble looks promising, but if you take a closer look, you’ll notice it’s not actually all that fun.

What is it and what does it do

Bouncing Marble is a simplistic game. The only goal is to get your yellow marble to the hole on other side of the field in three or less shots while avoiding moving, gyrating, and spinning barriers.

Pros

  • Easy to get a hang of
  • Various obstacles mean levels don’t stay too easy

Cons

  • Very boring.
  • Marble is slow, and threshold for bouncing again is too high
  • Low-res graphics
  • Bad physics
  • Again, very boring.

When I first downloaded Bouncing Marble, I was expecting a fun physics game involving hyperactive bouncing balls bouncing to and fro while I tried to make it into the hole on the other end of the field. The actual game is much the opposite: rather than a low amount of friction, Bouncing Marble has a very high amount of friction that stops the ball short of wherever you expected it to land, no matter how hard you pulled it. The only exception to this rule is when the friction is much too low, and your ball slides as though you’re on ice. Since the next move is allowed as soon as your ball is below a certain speed, this means you end up waiting a very long time for your next shot.

As you can see in the developer’s video above, the graphics do nothing to remedy the situation. Around as poorly done as the rest of the game, the graphics are incredibly low resolution and to top it off quite gaudy. It’s simply not a good game.

Conclusion and download link

Bouncing Marble is a poorly made game, and there’s no going around that. However, if active development continues, the game can improve to a playable level–all that needs fixing is the rolling physics and the graphics. At the current point in time, however, there’s no real reason to try Bouncing Marble, as it’s a game that needs a lot of love and work.
