[Windows] Edit your photos quickly with portable image editor Easy Image Modifier

Looking to quickly edit your photos without having to install anything? Well, you might want to give Easy Image Modifier a try. This is a program that gives you quick access to a bunch of different tools that you can use to modify your images.

WHAT IS IT AND WHAT DOES IT DO

Main Functionality

Easy Image Modifier is a lightweight program that allows you to quickly and easily edit just about any picture you have on your computer. The program gives you a host of tools that you can use to customize your pictures in any way you want. It might not win any awards for what it allows you to do, but it sure makes editing pictures easier.

Pros

  • Offered in multiple languages: DE, EN, ES, ET, FA, FR, IT, PT, RU, SV, TR, ZH
  • Portable, no installation required
  • Allows you to rename, resize, realign, change format, flip, rotate, add watermark text and pad your pictures
  • More advanced options include removing meta information, disproportional resizing, customizable image quality and even filtering
  • Offers a preview window so you can see the changes you are making

Cons

  • Has only light editing options, thus, this will not replace your more heavy duty picture editing software

Discussion

Easy Image Modifier is an extremely lightweight picture editor that does not have to be installed. When I say “lightweight,” I mean that in two different ways. First, the program is extremely small. At just over 500KB, it is the perfect portable image editor. However, since the program is so small, it does offer only light editing options. Thus, this is not a program that is going to replace your more heavy duty image editor.

This program really shines because it does not have to be installed. You can bring it with you and run it from any computer. This makes it possible to do light editing to pictures no matter where you are. Speaking of editing, let’s talk a bit about the kind of “edits” you can make to your pictures.

Easy Image Modifier does offer a number of great tools that you can use to edit your pictures. This includes giving you the ability to rotate, flip, change format, resize, add watermark text, sort or even rename your images. As you can see, these are all very basic. It does offer what it calls “advanced” options, but even these options fall well short of what heavy duty picture editors can achieve. These “advanced” options include flittering, disproportional resizing, customizable image quality and the removal of meta information.

The program is not going to win any awards for what it allows you to do. However, because it is so easy to use and lightweight, it is the perfect portable picture editor. You may just want to find a better one for home use. It is nice, however, that this lightweight program does offer you a little “preview” window to see the changes that you are making. This is something that I have seen other small picture editors lacking.

CONCLUSION AND DOWNLOAD LINK

If you are looking for a small, lightweight, portable picture editor, then Easy Image Modifier is for you. However, if you’re looking to make heavy duty changes to your pictures, or need something for home use, I would suggest going with a beefier image editor.

I use this program since first release and I’m surprised why the author doesn’t pointing out that the resize quality of algorithm used in EIM is better than in any similar program. There is no info about the used method so I’ve done some experiments. It seems that the program uses Mitchell or Bilinear resizing with unsharp mask instead of (usual) Lanczos3. FastStone image resizer with Bilinear + Unsharp Mask (sharpen 10, radius 0.8) produces almost identical resize quality as EIM.

    Highly recommended.
