New Promo: Get Paragon Drive Backup 9.0 Professional for free (again)!

Update: This promo seems to be still available even though it has been past 3 days. Quick get it while it is still here!

Last week v3.co.uk offered Paragon Backup 9.0 Professional for free. That promo has since ended. However a new promo for the same software is again live and this time it is being offered directly from Paragon (promo only lasts 3 days so hurry):

    Just downloaded and tried to install – got the “Drive backup 9 pro does not work under this OS” – running Vista 64(?) – can I install/run under some type of compatibility mode or do I just have to delete it? Thanks for all you do!

    @Jon: That is because it does not support 64-bit:

    It’s better to keep using the same email address when registering Paragon’s stuff. I keep reg. with the same address, and I can get the serial #’s from they’re website from now back to 2005 versions.

    @Ashraf:
    I still have my install file from the GOTD copy (I always save them)…But I had already downloaded the new one in order to get the Get Free Serial window….However, I never got it because the installation apparently detected the existing copy and gave me the choice of Modify, Fix, or Delete…[Didn't want to uninstall the one I had because I didn't know whether the deal was still on (i.e.,when the 3 days started) and didn't want to risk ending up with an unregistered copy]…When I went to reregister, I found that if you go into your Paragon account, it lists all the programs of theirs that you have along with all the registration data (Paragon Product Keys and Serial #’s)….:-)….!

    @Janet: Yes I do suggest you download it so you can have an install file to use later on; however you should not need to re-register because Paragon should have sent you an e-mail w/ the registration code back when you got it from GOTD. If not just re-register… it takes 2 mins. There is no point in trying to find it in your registry because you need the install file anyway.

    Great news. This means after my current laptop fails I can install it onto my new Laptop with WIN 7 (probably will be 7, not Vista).

    I already installed it and got the serial number and key code from them.
    I’ll just use it then — even though it’s outside the three day “window”.

  7. Janet

    I usually keep a copy of any registration codes I get, but I don’t have one for my GAOTD version of this program….Is it worth downloading and reinstalling in order to get a product key and reg #? Is there a way to locate this info in my registry instead? Where do I look for it?

    @waldemar: I answered your second question but sorry I missed the first. Please refer to @Ashraf for the answer to the second question. For the first question: yes you will be able to install this after you reinstall your computer. However be sure to keep the registration information and the install file safe because you will not be able to download the install file again.

    @FreebieHound: I installed this just fine on Win7 and Windows Vista multiple times. Plus thousands of others have installed this just fine so if I may be so bold I think the problem is rather related with your computer than a general problem. If I were to guess I would say it is because of a conflict with Norton because Norton does thinks its a bad software (even if you click “ignore” or something).

    The best suggestion I have to you is tweet paragon at http://www.twitter.com/paragonsoftware and ask for help.

  10. FreebieHound

    @Ashraf:
    “I don’t know what Norton is crying about but this software is 100% safe.”

    I never doubted you for a second.

    So I ignored Mr.Norton’s cries and proceeded with getting the FREE SERIAL NUMBERS.

    The email says:
    “PRODUCT KEY: db90-pro-free-eng-xxxxxxx
    SERIAL NUMBER: 0897E-xxxxxxxxxx
    Please note that the registration data is case sensitive.
    Furthermore we recommend to not typing the data manually into the registration window, but to copy them “

    MAJOR CUTE!!! The right button is disabled on their registration screen!
    Great sense of humor! :D So I read some more ….
    Oh well.

    Now the fun part.
    After installation it asks for the computer to be restarted.
    Cool, nothin unusual, except on restart, WinXP gives me the black screen with the option of returning to the Last Known Good Configuration, which naturally worked.

    Now I’m left wondering …

    We’ll find out pretty soon I guess.

    Sigh!

    @Ashraf:

    For those dotTechies that grabbed this software from GOTD earlier this year or from the v3.co.uk giveaway last week, don’t bother with this new offer because it is of the same exact software.

    THANKS!!!!! I finally get the opportunity.
    BUT …
    Is this piece of … software safe?
    I waited for it and just downloaded it, and started the installation.
    As I clicked to get FREE SERIAL my Norton brought the computer to a screeching halt!

    ALERT: MALICIOUS SCRIPT DETECTED!!!!
    MsiExec.exe

    Is that the discussed problem with GAOTD wrappers?
    Now I have a dilemma, pardon the expression. Or is it a conundrum?

    Any comments?

    @david roper: Sorry for no thumbs up but yes I do like it =).

    @Dinker Rao: If you burn and create a boot disk (WinPE is not available but you can create a Linux based one) then yes you can re-install the OS from the backup. Just pop in the boot disk, restart your computer (make sure the HD is plugged in) and go from there.

  13. Dinker Rao

    If an entire disk is backed up say using a external USB connected HD. And the OS crashes irretrievably. Can the OS be re-installed thru the back up? Have only backed up data files etc to DVDs. I thiink U can just read your features list. but confirm please.

    Thanks

    So where’s the Thumbs up picture? Gotta have it. Gotta have that picture. How will we know you ever really liked it? Maybe by the estimated 1,234 feature dots in the article? Nope, gotta have the Thumb, man. Don’t give me the finger, now, just the thumb. The Thumb… (sigh) ;-)
