As with most companies nowadays, Burger King has an official Twitter account. (Yes, even dotTech has a Twitter account even though I don’t consider us a company per se.) It is not entirely clear who did it or how they did it, but today Burger King’s Twitter was hacked… and turned into ‘McDonalds’. Check it out:
Aside from defacing the account, the hackers — who made various different references to Anonymous, LulzSec, and, Defonic Team Screen Name Club — posted some, um, interesting tweets:
When Burger King found out about the hack, they had Twitter disable the account. It looks as if the account is now back to normal with the latest tweet from @BurgerKing being: “Interesting day here at BURGER KING®, but we’re back! Welcome to our new followers. Hope you all stick around!”
The kicker? Prior to the hack @BurgerKing had roughly 80,000 followers. Now it has just above 110,000.
