Bottomline: Be careful....lol. But CCleaner registry cleaning is fine from my experiences, and STAY AWAY from registry defragmenters!! Boy, that brings back bad memories...

hmm.. i gave it some thought nad decided to leave it alone even though i can easily back up my registry nad what not... i figure as long my computer is running happily, there won't be harm with a bunch of extra registry files...

But can i get your opinion on a registry defrag.. or is this sorta risky

just curoius , can't get enough of all this tech!!!! ;)

If your computer is running fast and you don't seem to have any issues with apps bugging out, then I'd say cleaning would be a bad idea. In general, you should only registry clean IF you have a problem, IF you have a backup of the registry, and IF you trust the program you're using. I only ever use CCleaner to do my registry cleaning business, and I haven't really done any in quite a while--since I reinstalled Windows 6 months ago.

Have you registry cleaned with ASC4P before? If you haven't, I'd Google to see what others think:

Doing just a quick search, it seems that Cnet loved it:

http://download.cnet.com/Advanced-SystemCare-Free/3000-2086_4-10407614.html

However, in the comments things get a little bit worse:

http://download.cnet.com/Advanced-SystemCare-Free/9241-2086_4-11889864.html?messageID=10661436

However, it does get a 3.5/5 stars, and that was the only "it messed up my computer" I could find. The only other negative reviews I could find simply disliked the nags for the upgrade (which you already have).

Whether or not you clean is ultimately your choice, so good luck.. I guess.

So i don't know too much about registry, beisdes don't ever ever delete stuff from it becuase it coul be important [unless of course you know what you are doing]…

this has now caused a great problem for me:

I have just installed the Advanced System Care 4 Pro and had done a Deep scan on my system, one of which included registry scan too. It found 2571 Problem, but I am really confused as to what to do next. An inner feeling is pushing me ot fix them, but i decided that if someone on dottech has time on their hands and are skilled with registry, if they could help me. I have saved a report of hte registry errors the program found and here is the link. It is through megaupload and 100% safe- only a .txt file.
