Hi everyone! I was wondering if someone might be able to help me. We have had a new logo done up for our organisation and we have been trying to upload it on to our website. However, it has be resized to a smaller size. Problem is, it loses a lot of quality and comes out blurry on the website. Does anyone know of a prog that can downsize images and actually keep the image quality? I'd be grateful for any assistance.

Try GIMP. Just load up the image (please tell me you're using transparent PNGs!) and resize away using this guide:

Just ignore the part about the lots of layers.

@ Locutus: Thanks for the tip. Gulp, nope not using transparent PNGs. We paid a guy to do the logo for us as we were pretty hopeless in that department. Enthusiastic, yes. Talented, no. Will there be a problem if it isn't transparent?

Nah, but make sure that the borders line up with where you're putting it. That's the great thing about PNGs-they show the background through.

We have a white background on the website and a white background on the logo as well, so at least a lack of transparency won't be a problem. Thanks for the help, Locutus. Time to give Gimp a look.

I like Faststone Photo Resizer too. It''s done every job I've asked very well. And I got it off an article somewhere here on dotTech.

@ Wheezer: Hi there! I had FastStone Resizer installed before … but I hadn't reinstalled it after my last reformat. Does it keep image quality though when a pic is reduced?
