Just wanted to get that straight. You can't simply just copy movie files onto dvd's and expect them to play. You need a dvd authoring software. Ashraf wrote about this before: DVDFlick.

Won't get into it now but the site provides lots of info. It does burn directly to DVD, and it's free.

You may also want to check out the one Jyo mentions but I have no experience with it so I can't say myself.

If those don't work well for you let us know, I have used many in the past but can't post all them at this time (it's late but figured I'd at least mention one). Hope it helps! Later.

Unless you are asking for a software that will convert those .avi videos straight into DVD format?
