Anyone know of a good preferably free cloud storage provider that would be good for movies? I tried Box.net b/c I have 50 GB but they have a 2GB file limit.

Dropbox has no size cap if you use their desktop uploader.

Wow OP must have a heck of an upload bandwidth to even think of storing movies in the cloud, some of which I assume are greater than 2GB in size.

I'm envious Cry

Yea….as a free dropbox user, I wont be getting much space for movies…..

but I am looking for a cloud storage that will also be able to stream via app or mobile device. (ex/ iphone stream videos from dropbox app) ….beecloud seems to have no app.

i have to eat dinner right now but really quickly in case i forget check out PogoPlug!

i think you get 5GB free and then you should be able to stream to media devices… i don't know the upload cap or anything, but I'll find out for you later on :)

lol i went to pogoplug to make sure i have the right link and i saw this on their features page:

Stream your videos, photos and music from your cloud
Stream your media to any device, including your smartphone, tablet and computer. Watch all of your movies, view all your photos and listen to all your music wherever you are.
but i'll look into it more :)
EDIT: oh nvm. i just read you wanted "50 GB" :P
i'll look into it :D

ugh those small letters were killing me, so here is a new post :)

ok so here is what i gathered:

PogoPlug:

5GB Storage

Stream: Yes

Max. File Size: 4 GB via network uploader [the site]--//\\//\\--[using the desktop uploader, I uploaded some movies files to it [i got the CNET 10GB special] and i filed it up in one go…]

I doubt you would want to do this but you can host your own cloud by purchasing one of those pogoplug devices [starts @ $50 USD] w/ infinite storage…

Ubuntu One

5 GB Storage

Stream: Yes

Max. File Size: 5 GB

SugarSync

5 GB Storage

Stream: Yes

Max. File Size: 4 GB

Amazon Cloud Drive

5 GB Storage

Stream: Yes

Max. File Size: 2 GB

So if you want you have 20 GB right there and you could organize them by genre or something??

hey PCBasics,

i found some more for you :)

1. spideroak

Accessible from Mac, PC, Linux, iPhone, Android, etc.

Get 6GB for free. Completely secure and very friendly team behind this cloud storage.

[it's my referral link, what they do is they give you up to 50 GB. so you basically refer 50 "friends" and get a lovely 50 GB :) ]

2.idrive.com

this one is more of an online back up thingy, but you can get 15 GBs, so yeah.. [i'm sure it isn't cloud storage, but if you want to back up stuff :P]

  • idrive.com
  • Sign up, get 5GB for free (need to use link since it's grandfathered in).
  • Then go here: http://goo.gl/lrnhu
  • and use a BS email account (make one if you need to).
  • Click the button "Import Contacts and Send Referral" and you get 10 GB extra.
  • So 15GB for free.

Found these two on SlickDeals, so yeah , i just copied and pasted it here :)

apparently i just found out that the links are referral links and i dont know Ashraf's policy on referral links so yeah… just lettin you know :D
