Sorry, can someone explain what a DWM is?
dwm.exe is the Desktop Window Manager and is responsible for the graphical effects in Microsoft Windows Vista operating system such as 3D effects, live windows previews and windows transperancies. The Aero interface in Windows Vista can be quite taxing on system performace on certain computers and you can switch it off or reduce the screen resolution to increase performance.
Like i said it handles all the eye-candy and effects that Vista and 7 have.
Alright, sorry for not reading carefully. :P I like aero, because of one thing:
The minimize/englarge/close buttons are at the corner of the window. Unlike "Basic", they are not placed completely at the corner of the window. It's hard to explain, I'll give you a pic:
Do you see where the minimize/enlarge/close buttons are? See how they aren't exactly at the corners? That's what I don't like. When I multi-task, I tend to click through really fast, so to me, aero is preferable over basic. But again, basic uses up less ram am I correct?

This may sound odd, but can you give a printscreen of your dock, i've re installed and i want to customise it a bit more, i don't know why but sometimes seeing someone elses gives me an idea.
Sometimes it looks completely different and i think "How the heck did i get this from that".
Sure, I have to head out now, but I'll do it when I get home.

OfflinePhoenix_Rising: Interesting desktop pic. The eyes do grab a person's attention.
So that's what Rocketdock looks like. I was wondering about that but didn't see any screenshots on their website.
I could probably live with something like that on my desktop. It'd be kinda nice to see the actual pic under all the icons from time to time.
I may give it a try. Thanks for the recommendation.
Offline@ Wheezer and Gioneo: The eyes are beguiling, aren't they? It's a good way to have easy access to your progs and folders straight from your desktop. You can customise it any way you like and use whatever icons you like. Plus it's very light on resources. At present, it's using just 536K on my comp. A really top prog, IMHO. And a great way to clean up cluttered desktops, if they are a problem that is.

Hey, that looks kinda good. I've got more fine tuning to do, but at least now I can see the desktop pic. Thanks for the suggestion and link Phoenix_Rising!
I'd like to change the background of the Rocketdock bar into something more like the line Phoenix_Rising has behind her Rocketdock icons, But I haven't spent much time yet looking thru all the backgrounds available.

, there is a library of backgrounds on the rocketdock site, i'm not sure which one Phoenix is using, but there is a nice Windows 7 type dock background here:

OfflineWhen I download and install a background, do I get to keep my desktop pic or do I have to use the one that comes in the download?

Besides you have to install the background for the Rocket dock yourself. You just basically copy the extrcted files to the background directory of the Rocket dock folder.

You guys think your desktops are bad? Check out mine:
Step 1: Remove any shortcuts you barely use.
Step 2: Create a primary folder called "Files".
Step 3. Create Sub folders so some files can go to that certain category
Step 3.5: Sub folder examples: Useful Programs, Computer Utilities, Media Programs, Others, Documents, make up your own
Step 4. Install Rocketdock as mentioned several times by many of the techies
Step 5. Organize your most used programs in there
Step 6. Now your system would be less cluttered.
Important Note! Fences is a great utility to organize your programs, but as aid before, it lagged my system a bit and startup was slightly slower after installation.
I hope my "guide" helped you.
OfflineAs I was working with Rocketdock this afternoon, I remembered a discussion a while ago about programs that would do something similar to the bookmark toolbar. So it would show just the little logo thing instead of the whole tab with whatever name a person assigns to each tab.
I tried doing a search, but didn't come up with the right search terms to find that conversation.
I'm sure locutus was one of the people that uses such a program, but since he's on vacation and his computer is broken, I don't expect he'll be replying to this.
Anybody else remember that discussion or use a program like what I'm looking for that you can recommend?
