OfflineI don't think there is a clear answer to your question. It comes down to what you want the timer to do.
For me, for now I'm sticking with the "Timer" I downloaded from BST Downloads because it fit's what I was looking to do. Which was basically have a visible countdowns on my desktop that look good, by my standards. I just have to keep in mind that there won't be an audible alarm when the countdown reaches zero.
For cases where I want an audible alarm, I'm sticking with Note Mania.
I would like to be able to have the audible alarm in the desktop timers, but for what I'm using them for it's not really necessary. That's why the way the timer looks was important in my case.
OfflineFYI:
I found the other thing I was asking about dealing with the bookmarks toolbar. It's a Firefox addon called Bookmarks Toolbar Restyled.

Offline@ Wheezer: I just went through and did a clean-out of my FF add-ons (I get a bit carried away sometimes). This looks interesting though … I can already see my add-on count beginning to rise again.
Anyway, as promised yesterday, here are a couple of sites where you can get some great dock icons:
Deviantart: http://www.deviantart.com (just search on the icons sub-menu)
Wincustomize: http://www.wincustomize.com/
@ Ebony: I rely on the calendar and alarm on my mobile phone, so I don't have any preferred desktop timer option. I think just play around with each of them and see which suits your specific needs the best. Good luck!
OfflinePhoenix_Rising: Thanks for the links. I'll be checking them out to see if I can find one I like.
Locutus: Right. It hides the titles. But when you mouse-over it shows the title.
The thing I wish was different is that it shrinks the size of the icons a bit. For you younger folks who still have good eyes it probably won't be an issue. I can see them, it's just that the ones that are more than just a simple icon are a little tough to see. As an example, for the dotTech icon I can see the blue dot and that there is something white on it, but can't actualy read the letters. But the Cogizio icon is easy to see and read because the "C" is much larger.
I was however able to see the letters on the dotTech icon easily before I installed the addon.
I'm not too concerned tho because of the mouse-over thing.
