Hi everyone,
I'm pretty sure we've all recieved emails that have been forwarded so many times that you can barely make out the message.
I'm looking for a program that will "strip" all the added "fluff" from an email.
I tried searching, but google can only find male strippers, any suggestions?
Oh, one other thing. The right side of this text box is truncated. Is that because I'm running 1024x768, and need to change the resolution?
OfflineI don't know of any programs like that, but I am just in the habit of sending my reply without all that previous "fluff" as you call it.
If all else fails you can turn off the settings in you email client (at least you can if you're running thunderbird or outlook) and ask all your contacts to do the same.
OfflineI know gmail automatically truncates the "fluff" for you, but I don't know of a specific program. It would be interesting if you found one and let us all know.
As for width problems with the forum: Ya… the script I am using for my forums is still in the "baby" stages and forum width (i.e. text/boxes being cut off) is one of the problems. However, The textbox is not truncated for us right now. Your resolution shouldn't be a problem because dotTech is built for 1024x768. Can you try and see if the problem occurs in a different browser?

I know I saw it somewhere

That is correct.
Do we have a specific thread for "Glitches"?

Mite take me the weekend, with the snow an all………
OfflineWhat email client are you using? Cuz you could see if Thunderbird (http://www.mozillamessaging.com/en-US/thunderbird/), the email equivalent of firefox, has an addon to do that.
OfflineIf by 'fluff' you mean those '>>>>>' before each line, then an old standby, called eCleaner, can be found here: http://ecleaner.tripod.com/ (this site also lists additional strippers).
Although eCleaner 2.02 runs on older Windows versions, I still use it on XP.
Hope this helps
Network engineers can no longer scoff at Windows users. With this utility package, scads of favorite tools with roots in UNIX are now available in Windows. Tools like Ping, Traceroute, Finger, and Whois are now collected together into one dialog interface--no more uninspiring DOS command lines. This tool helps you sleuth out the true e-mail addresses for spammers so that you can send complaints to their Internet service providers. You can export the information you find to disk or clipboard, or print out your report.

There seems to be some confusion on the term "fluff".
In concerning emails.
To me it means the 5, 10, 20, 30, 40, ad infinitum addresses that are added to an email I recieve after its been forwarded to me.
And in gmail there are colored bars added to the left side of the message. I don't use any other email client so I don't know how others operate.
Not only is this risky behavior to allow strangers to see these 5 to 40 added email addresses, it is from how I learned, proper etiquette to remove these added addresses before you foward them on to someone else.
So far I've only found these two freebies

I haven't tried stripmail yet, but emailstripper works by you cutting or coping your email, and pasting it into emailstripper's clipboard.
Click on the strip it! button, and then cut out what you want, and past it into a new message.
When I first used it I expected the addresses to be gone, but they wern't. after stripping you have to make the choice of how much you want to past back in a new message, and the colored side bars didn't show until you pasted the stripped message back into a google new message.
Pwnana:
I have an interest in T-bird, and will look into it.
suze:
google adds colored bars to the message, and the one I tried wouldn't remove them.
I don't know if ecleaner will do the job, but I'll check that and pcworld.
blackraven:
Altough that wasn't what I was looking for, it is another bane I suffer in my spam box.
I receieve spam emails that have just "me" listed as the sender, and I know I didn't contact this particular "Viagra" seller.
If I want any kind of pill, I go through my Dr. and Pharmacy.
So I will look into your lead.
Ashraf:
I wanted to get this response out 'bout emailstrippers, and I did check different broswers on the problem we discussed, but I found another anomally.
Will get that info organized, and post later here or in the Improve dotTech forum.
Thank You's to all that have responded
