I'm currently using a Ubuntu VM for general internet surfing / social networking as an added layer of security. I think Linux in general is a good layer of protection but the AV tools are on the thin side. I'm running Firestarter and ClamAV but ClamAV, by what I read, is more for mail clients. Even though it's a VM I'd still like to harden it some by using distros / tools for that purpose .. just not sure what's good.

I use Wireshark at work on occasion (Windows though) so that's a decent tool and I see a bunch of distros out there that might be good (BackTrack, SELinux, FCCU, Canine Linux, Ubuntu Christian Edition [pray you don't get infected]) .. too many choices .. some opinions would be appreciated to thin out the candidates.

Thanks in advance for any feedback!
