OfflineHi All…
I have a small problem with my laptop at the moment. The Hard Disk appears to have been seriously damaged or corrupted, so much so that the Windows XP install disk can't format the unpartitioned space.
I have tried using the Linux Ubuntu CD to try and find what's wrong, but that can't even find any unpartitioned space.
That means, effectively, I can't do anything on my laptop because I can't install an operating system.
That also means I can't do anything without a bootable ISO file that will repair it.
I am working on a Dell Latitude C600 if this helps, or if anyone knows anything about them. If you know of any software that may be of some use to me, please reply!
Thanks,
Daniel505

or go to Dell support
OfflineSorry – your link can't read the disk. Dell Support might get me somwhere though – I'm trying that now. What's really helpful is that they have full product documentations…
I'm starting to think it may be a good idea to try and get a new hard disk. I tried again with the XP disk and it said that my disk was badly damaged or corrupted.
Thanks for your advice,
Daniel505
Hi daniel505,
Have you try to run chkdsk from the windows cd you have ?? You do it in this way : put the cd in your computer, reboot the computer and select r ( for repair), after you just type chkdsk and press enter and let it run. Then you ca retry to install your XP :O)
Have a nice time over there
