Easeus, paragon and MiniTool all has partition recover. It may take a long time to scan your drive (several hours depending on size), but they do find lost files.

I didn't like Easeus and I think MiniTool has a lost or damage partition recover. These are free but there may be a limit on how much data can be recovered.

Good luck.

Was the disk damaged?

Trying to recover data that wasn't backed up isn't always easy, especially from a damaged drive (and it also depends on how damaged the drive is.)

In most cases, if the drive isn't damaged, a good recovery lost data program can recover it, but you really need to know what your looking for.

If the drive is damaged, it will cost $$, and depending on what caused the damage or how bad the damage is, it could cost even more $$$$

from an external HD if the FAT is lost. OR should my question be, is it possible to recover the FAT.

This is a learning mode for me. A friend has this situation and since the drive is unusable right now, just thought I would take the opportunity to learn something knew.

If it is possible, I was hoping for a freebie SW that could do this for me.
