OfflineI have been using this BU sw since early this year with no problems.
The last couple of times that it tried to BU my system, it gave me a message that I needed to restart the computer and then it would BU from the boot sector

So read in the help file that this is not normal and should not be happening.
Oooook, the only solution they offered was to send in a report.
(What does that do for me)
So I uninstalled and rebooted machine and it came up in regular way. No warnings or error message. (Whew)
However, now I am left without a BU sw.
My quandary is
Should I reinstall Paragon???
Find another BU sw? BUT which one. I read some of the reviews here on different ones, but they left me with the question of "is the SW, good bad of indifferent."
I am a little aggravated right now. I am ready to move on the Win 7 box, don't have time to dilly dally with this one.

OfflineWell, are you looking for image backup software or just file backups? Also, what are you going to do with your old machine once you finish the transfer to Win7? What version of Win7? I ask because Win7 Pro has built-in file and image backup capabilities. I don't have any personal experience with it (I use Acronis for image backups, BackUp4All Pro for file backups which I got from a dotTech promo), but it is a free option if you have the appropriate Win7 version.
OfflineParagon from what ive been reading is supposed to be a great brand.. so possibly worth another chance… another option, which i am gonna look into myself, is norton Ghost… Norton Ghost is a great program and cant recall ever hearing anything negative about it.. most techs ive ever known use it for imaging and what not as well.. So another option to look into.. though, I do not know if you can get it free or not.. one thing I am trying to find out for myself as if I can find free, will for surely snag that

OfflineI don't think I've ever see Ghost for free, or at least not a current version. Ghost is pretty robust though and is used in a lot of corporate environments but more for imaging (installing a new OS and programs all in one shot new computers before giving them to employees) than backup. But it can also function as backup software.

Thanks Karen,
For the vista box, I want image backup. This machine is approx a year old and I was going to have it as the Vista box, I have an XP lap top ANNNNNDDD,
now I have my Win7 box.
I have the home premium edition of 7. Which one is a free option?

Zugs thanks for the suggestions
I found a tech support phone # for paragon, I am going to give them a call and maybe they will/can tell me if it is Ok to reinstall or may a suggestion for a fix. I dunno. I am about gun shy (skeptical) of it now.

OfflineBackup & Recovery 10.2. Free Edition
I just tried to get this sw and when I went to the reg page, it took several attempts to load and once I entered the info, it just kept saying to complete the form. Sigh…..
This looks like a diff ver than the one that went south so I was going to give it a try. Any suggestions, has anyone else tried to get this program with success.

OfflineHey Ebony,
DId you end up using the B&R Free? or stick with System Backup? reason asking is that I have system backup 9.5 installed.. but i was looking into the B&R Free and even Macrium Reflect.. i think i like the paragon because they do the differential backup and macrium doesnt. I like the idea of the program just backing up what has been changed vs redoing a complete new one.. saving time and all.
So, was wondering how the B&R free is working for you.. and to whether or not it is worth installing and using over SB9.5 … looking for suggestions.. i have DL'd BR free and macrium, just havent installed as wanna make sure using best option..
THanks,
Zug
